Kent Haslam

I just get a great feeling in knowing that every inside candidate we present in a national search is the best, 100% of the time. We are sooooo fortunate to have such unique talent within our school, just waiting for the chance to display their skills!

You don't know that Kent wasn't the best candidate. :coffee:

All you know is he was the internal candidate.

The rest is you being the condescending prick you are :thumb:

Who are you kidding? He doesn't know anything.

Whether he turns out to be good or not is not the issue here. It is the constant charade that UM goes through every time there is an opening, with their 'national search", and "we will hire the best candidate" mantra, only to do what we all knew before the COSTLY process. It get old.

Huh??? Seems to me this is the only issue. But if you like to argue for the sake of argument, carry on I guess.........

Kent was the top pick by the 20 person committee. As I had mentioned before I doubted that Rolls Royce would pick him because he was an insider and Jim O'Day had hired hired Kent.

I like Kent and I know he will do a good job. The other three finalists were good but Kent stood out.

Now after my bashing Engstrom and doubting he would hire Haslam I must give credit to the President.

Forget all that silly bantering about insiders and outsiders.

What we should do is continue to watch the five or so vice presidents Engstrom will hire. Course this is all about the U and not the athletic dept.

I tend to think 98 percent of the Griz are glad it is over and Haslam is the new AD.

Gentlemen: I didn't think it would be wise to promote Kent to the position of AD, nor do I think he has strong enough qualifications for the position. However, he is now the AD and I think we all need to give him our full support as the decision has been made by Engstrom. Good luck to Kent....Go Griz!

Good post Spanky. It is exactly what we should do. I think our only agenda would be to have the University of Montana to be number one in athletics, in academics and in character with class.
