I really hope the griz make the right decision and try to move up... the fcs is pathetic these days. Only getting worse. Could be the decline of griz football if they choose to stay. Some of these large donors need to pull their head out of their ass.. football isn't fun or interest if your championship game is Griz vs Northern Colorado...

GA, we’re just little ol’ Montana. We can’t compete at that level. Not enough people. I mean, look at Delaware. Enormous population, a football hotbed, and a massive television market. How could we ever replicate that?

I have no interest in the Griz being in the Sun Belt or Conf USA, where there is NO historical link and would put UM way outside the footprint. I would heartily endorse Andrew Schmidt's 'Snow Belt Conference,' but I think the possibility of that is somewhere around minus-10. So what are the possibilities? UM can't just stomp its feet and say, "We want to be FBS!!!" There has to be some realistic place to go.

Exactly. “Golly shucks, I’m all for a move up s’long as it’s perfect in every way and fits with what we’ve always done, but since there ain’t nothing like that, we can’t do anything.” Is not a position and is an even shittier strategy.

It seems like all our time being a big fish in the lower division has made people think we're in a position to dictate terms up top. Uh-uh. We will never move up if we come with a list of demands.

The BSC and CUSA are both irrelevant and arguing about degrees of irrelevancy is pretty pointless.

As academic institutions granting 'degrees,' how would you rate the BSC and CUSA on a Bachelor, Masters, and Doctorate scale of irrelevance? Doctorate would be HIGHLY irrelevant.

Thanks for the correction. These teams moving up are in highly populate areas, and compete with the "big boys" for their recruits. Montana schools don't have that 'problem.' Out here in the toolies, we do what we do. Weber has that problem. Maybe they will announce a move in the near future. Hell, even Dixie is moving 'up'.

Thanks for the correction. These teams moving up are in highly populate areas, and compete with the "big boys" for their recruits. Montana schools don't have that 'problem.' Anybody who thinks C-USA is a WORSE conference than the BSC isn't paying attention.

The top 6 teams in the Big Sky are all better programs then anyone in CUSA. You watch, when CUSA has to re-negotiate their tv deal at the end of this school year they may end up having a worse tv deal then the Big Sky, and maybe a smaller payout to each school then the Big Sky. I'm not even kidding about that either. I don't think CBS Sports is gonna keep them.

You need to put down the pipe. UM would be a bottom feeder in every FBS conference including C-USA, at least for a little while. They need to stay in their lane and ply for the JV participation trophy and welfare check at the end of the season.

Still, we have to have somewhere to move up to, and I don't see where that is right now. Either a conference has to want us, or we'd have to create a new FBS conference while convincing 7 or more schools to move up alongside us. Maybe it's possible, maybe it's not, I don't know, but I see no evidence that any FBS conference would currently be interested in us, especially right now as the MWC is likely waiting to see what happens with the PAC in the next couple of years.
