If something similar happened in Missoula the kittens would go into total meltdown!

Do you really believe what you just posted? MSU's honor code requires that an athlete must have "due process" before his scholarship may be pulled. Are you claiming Ash broke the rules?

HINT: One of three things needs to happen before a player will lose his scholarship: (1) the player admits the charges; (2) the player denies the charges, an investigation is conducted, and guilt is determined in court (either civilian or the schools honor court), or (3) the players scholarship expires at the end of the year. If one of those three things do not happen Ash is not going to "pull" their scholarship.

It has been a while so yes I made a mistake on my recollection. The player who had is scholarship pulled was not involved in this incident. But having refreshed my memory on this particular situation I don't have a problem with anything that Ash did. He stepped forward and handled the situation without "waiting for the legal system to run its course." Interestingly, seems to have worked because I don't recall either player being involved in any other issues during their playing careers. As for the player that had his scholarship pulled that has turned out pretty well also.

Can you point to the situations where UM actually let the legal system run its course before taking any action? Note that UM took almost immediate action after tasing incident (even if some thought the initial punishment was not harsh enough) and decided they would look at the matter again after the facts were better known and legal result was known. Please don't bother to point out any outdated statement by the AD or whomever, when in fact action was promptly taken.

Yeah, they took prompt action. One quarter suspension that was tremendous discipline. And yes, the first statement out of UM was they would "let the legal system run its course." Only after several days was it made known (not announced) that the vaunted one quarter suspension was being handed down. As for other situations, they were already pointed out in earlier posts.

doebermen, would you, in A CIVIL AND NON-RIVALRY SMACK manner care to explain why you care so much about if Montana discipline's it's players harshly enough? Why DO you care so much if the UM football program is full of players and coaches who don't live up to your moral code? You, Cats2506, and others are full-blooded Bobcat fans? Correct? You aren't split on your loyalties? Correct? What does it matter. IF you hate the Griz so much, wouldn't this stuff just add fuel to your fire? Instead, you and a few other cat posters, here and on BN act like your disgruntled and unhappy FANS of the Grizzlies by how involved you are in these discussions and this news. AM I WRONG? Are you a Griz fan? I'm asking in a total, and honest manner because how much you and a few other Cat posters seems to care just doesn't make sense to me and how I view my love of the Griz in this rivalry.

Also, IF you are going to respond with "You care because you are a taxpayer and your .00000004 cents per total out of your total state income tax taken per year is allocated to the MT General Education fund, and you deserve better" or because "We are all Montanans and the Griz have embarrassed the state (with it's ONE ARREST for sexual assault in the last 9 years)" then there is no need for you to type because I just did it for you and I think both are LAME AS HELL IN MY OPINION.

I cant answer for dobermen, but I can for me since you drug me into the pissing match. I love football, at almost all levels, I enjoy college the most, and am pretty bored with the NFL, I will watch a game of anybody at any level though. I enjoy the game played at a level where it is more about the passion of the game than about money and stardom. I dislike those that play for their own egos. A lack of discipline by coaches and AD's shows disrespect for the game. Also I will use anything I can to poke fun at um's narcissistic fan base, just because its a lot of fun. :thumb:

Just as I thought. You can't back up your assertion. You can't name a single time UM let the legal system run its course before taking action. Other than perhaps something that was minor and not in season, I can't remember any either.

Inventor of the ESG Go Cats Go chant, That's fine, you have a much higher moral standard than MOST college football fans. IN VIEWING other message boards, I can see that's not how Florida State diehards feel about Miami's most recent unravelling. They hate the Canes with a passion and would prefer the team be the worst team in college football even if the NCAA is the ones who put them there. They are not crying about respect and integrity, instead they are laughing at how bad Miami is going to be. But thanks for your response and honesty. And BTW, I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest. I asked an honest question and prefaced it by asking for a non-smack answer.

Havgriz, those Cat posters have obvious Griz envy. Not being able to beat the Griz on the field very often, they look for others ways to denigrate the program. They're probably losers in life too.

Although I am a griz fan first I don't hate the bobcats at all. I think it's pathetic that some of us hate the school that is just down the road and vise versa. Why should we hate MSU more than a team like Weber State? We live in Montana not Florida.

As a devout Miami fan, I'd just like to let you know that we're going to destroy FSU. Plus the report that hack Robinson wrote was full of errors. Expect small penalties for Miami.

Fine. We'll use anything to push the buttons of MSU's insecure fan base, just because it's a lot of fun.

I have posted it before, but I can do it again for you. Why do I care, because I have two degrees from UM and the way the Coaches have handled these situations reflects badly not only on the football program (and the many outstanding kids that have come through the program, done the right thing, and have been a positive image for the state of Montana) but for everyone that is associated with the institution. I have been raising this issue for years and now the approach that has been taken has brought even more bad press to the institution. When UM is being discussed in national publications in the same conversation as PSU (again, rightly or wrongly) it reflects poorly on everyone associated with the insitution as well as the state. Just because I happen to be a fan of MSU doesn't lessen the effects of what is going on at UM. It is something that should have been addressed years ago and if it had been it likely would not have gotten to the point it is today. The fact that many on this board cannot accept the fact that the approach UM has taken to the problems over the years bears any responsibility for this situation and continually want to blame it on everyone else (the newspaper, opposing team fans, disgruntled groupies, etc) clearly demonstrates that many simply don't get it. It is this attitude that has created the problem, it is not part of the solution. I think UM will eventually come out of this just fine because it has begun to take the necessary steps to remedy the situation. But as stated many times, at this point, the final outcome is now out of its hands so when and how it ends won't be known until the NCAA, DOE and DOJ make their determinations.

There's only been 2 decent cat posters on egriz. Wbtfg and ilovethecats. The others are just dumbass trolls trying to stir the pot.

  and you wonder why I enjoy poking fun at you turds

doebermn, thanks for the honest response. everyone is entitled to feel any way they want about the situation, i was just curious as to why so many Bobcat fans care and the whole "im a taxpayer" thing just drives me insane. being a UM graduate, you certainly should be disgruntled, however, as a bobcat fan i'd think you would still not care if or how the Griz football team goes down in flames. but that's just me. again, thanks for your honesty.
