Junior...

It looked like the Raiders covered kicks well. JB didn't have much room out there. It seems like if a guy isn't consistently popping kickoffs for 40+ he catches shit. He didn't make any egregious mistakes and held onto the football. He is going to make the team.
Trust me, there is no one on this site that wants to see Junior make the Niners more than me. I'm probably gonna buy a Bergen Niners jersey even if he doesn't make the team. The only reason I haven't yet is because sometimes guys switch numbers after the preseason when cuts happen.

I also probably follow the Niners closer than maybe anyone else on here.

As HHB mentions, it was pretty clear watching him run routes that he's struggling as a WR out there, even against guys that might not make a roster this year (or ever).

His production on returns has to be better, because they can get this kind of production out of guys like Jacob Cowing, who also is a much better NFL receiver that they can put in the game being so short on receivers right now.

I'm a lot more worried today than I was after last week on his chances of making the 53-man roster.

Tom McMahon and Colt Anderson are Special Teams Coordinators for the Raiders. It’s awesome to see the Montana connections.

He sure is, but he's not the only person with these sentiments. I think Junior has his work cut out for him over the next 2 weeks.
It’s really hard for a return specialist to make a roster these days. I’d imagine he’ll for sure make the practice squad, the 53 is a stretch.

He does.

But over the past half decade or so, the Niners special teams have been soooo bad. They may be willing to take a flyer on someone -- ANYone (because it doesn't appear it's going to be Moody) -- who can pull them up to the level of respectability.

And having Colt as a coach can't hurt...

Who else has those sentiments?
At the very least, the two other Niners media guys in that post.

I've also seen a lot of Niner fan sentiment (not mine, obviously) along the lines of "this guy was supposed to be a dynamite return guy, and I don't see it. Why did we waste a draft pick on him?"

Kyle puts a ton of stock into practice and performing well in practice (not all that dissimilar to Bobby), so it's my hope that Bergen keeps wowing them there, but I honestly think he needs another big return to really lock his roster spot down.

It will be telling (and a bad sign) next week if we see Cowing taking the majority of returns (assuming he's healthy enough to do so).

The media covering the NFL is more critical than the media covering the Griz.
It depends on the media person. Some are complete homers and some act like they are the opposition and many are somewhere in the middle.

NFL is a business and sensation and drama creates eyeballs and clicks.

And unlike many, they understand that they are in the entertainment business. Their actual "competition" is Taylor Swift. Game of Thrones., Freakier Friday, etc.

Addendum: Should have included other sports ... pro and collegiate.

And the amount of influence agents have in the entertainment/media sphere is impressive/scary.
