Jordan is a Lady GRIZ, confirmed on a facebook page that she will be playing for the Lady Griz next year. exciting news.
Very nice post, City....hope springs eternal...I wish I shared your enthusiasm, but lost in the first game of the NCAAs where it was not the players but the coaching or lack thereof, that proved ineffective.citygriz said:seems to me there's a great irony here, which is that montana's a.a.u. team was put together in large part to give montana girls the national recognition they hadn't been getting, and hence more scholarship offers from the bigger schools. we all knew four years ago that montana was going to produce a great recruiting class, and you had to think that with the a.a.u. exposure it'd be a lot tougher for selvig to recruit this top montana talent. but except for joslyn, the attitude of jordan sullivan and others of this class seems to be, we've played together as a team for years now, and wouldn't it be fun to continue this together at the collegiate level. since that's not possible anywhere but montana, it seems that this--together with the incredible familial ties--really worked to selvig's advantage.
i'm as thrilled as anybody with the quality of successive classes now, and yet the deficiencies that have been mentioned here remain--the lack of a really tall post player and of a super-quick pure point guard. this almost assures that montana keeps the momentum going as the dominant big sky power. question is, will be able to compete in those key first-found games, one of which most assuredly willbe against joslyn and the stanford cardinal. i hope the next recruiting class addresses some of these deficiencies.
and before we get too giddy about this class, let me issue two words of caution: tricia binford. i believe she's a rising star in the women's coaching ranks, and while selvig picked the montana talent pretty much clean this year, don't be surprised to see this woman pull a few rabbits out of the hat--or maybe koala bears. she may not be able to recruit montana but she sure seems to be developing a pipeline to australia, in much the manner rob ash is recruiting texas. both those could turn out to be rich recruiting territories.
