Joining the Mountain West would run an $8MM - $9MM annual deficit - can we overcome that?

For having the highest viewership games in the FCS and having the brawl of the wild and only receive 86K in media rights is poor, someone in charge needs to renegioatate media rights.
HHB and others will say it can't be done to benefit UM and MSU. Others will say BSU found a way to do it with the MWC.

Wyoming Financials for last year:

Wyoming reports a total of $3.45 million in media rights and $2.17 million in additional football conference distribution (i.e. bowl payouts, playoff distribution, NCAAT credits, etc..), $791,695 for men's basketball NCAAT distribution, $0 for women's NCAAWT basketball distribution and $23,702 for other sports distribution (wrestling and volleyball??)for a total of roughly $6.38. million in conference/NCAA distribution.

That is From Page 9 in the link below

So almost an immediate $6.4 million dollar jump if you get full MWC $$.
Will NDSU get any of that?

That’s 5 million roughly. NDSU got 10 million from donors/sponors and yes in the long run they will receive more revenue in the MWC than BSC and Summit league.
I thought NDSU wasn’t getting any of that.
$10 million is one-time. Think UM had $6 million from donors last year.

North Dakota State University (NDSU) will not receive any financial distributions from the Mountain West (MW) Conference. As part of their agreement to join as a football-only member, NDSU agreed to forgo access to conference or College Football Playoff revenues until at least 2032. [1, 2]
The main financial terms of the transition include:
  • Entry Fee: NDSU will pay a near $12 million entry fee to the Mountain West.
  • NCAA Fee: The school will also pay $5 million to the NCAA to officially transition from the FCS to the FBS subdivision.” Gemini.

The 10 million is from there giving day. Pretty impressive.

$10 million is a one-time gift. FBS isn't a one-time cost. UM got $6.3 million from donors last year, without doing anything special in fund-raising, to my knowledge.
What’s your point. 10 million Is more than 6.3 both one time gifts. NDSU received enough money around 20 million to make the move. They did there feasibility study and the move in the long run is worth more than staying FCS with jersey patches and exposure.
