Joining the Mountain West would run an $8MM - $9MM annual deficit - can we overcome that?

For the FCS, South Dakota State led the way in FY24 at $9,620,366. However, Montana State’s football budget increased by $4,530,140 in FY25, moving from $8,847,642 to $13,377,782 to sit atop the subdivision in FY25. Montana State had a bigger football budget in FY25 than 20+ FBS teams, including teams like Northern Illinois, Wyoming, and UTEP.

Is MSU better prepared to move to the MWC.

I have some hope with a Boise State guy coming in he will be alot more aggressive with the State BOR and work with MSU to ensure both of us get into the MWC come the Realignment shenanigans of the 2030s, even if as Football only options.

I cross-posted this to the FCS Football Budgets thread.

I know NDSU is no longer FCS but I think it's relevant to this thread. I was told by a person who is in the know in NDSU athletics that they had to go to the MW to sustain revenues. I was told NDSU athletics is funded entirely by donors and donors were getting tapped out. NDSU had to go to the MW in football so they could sustain their athletic programs.
