JJ's status

SSH In a pure passing aspect is better than JJ. But the offensive line can't protect anyone so running around is pretty much a given for any griz QB right now.

If I'm a DC preparing for a SSH-led team, my job is simple. Knowing MD will not turn him loose and will run, run, run, I load the box and on passing downs bring pressure. He has a slow release and is too footslow to evade the rush. If I'm preparing for JJ, I have to be careful if he is at all able to move, because my pass D is awful.

I think JJ plays until he can't walk. Lots of time to heal if they lose.

Well maybe both us and the cats will be without our starting QB for cat/griz.
Too bad they have an actual back up qb. Unlike the griz.
Ours has the handoff mastered.

Don't forget the bootleg, he's sneaky fast.

Ah, yes. The wounded giraffe play. The sad part is he is still faster than me. And younger. And better looking. (Drinks beer)

Your post is correct. But just wait until next season, cause one of our young QBs who is not even as good as SSH (according to the pundits) is gonna suddenly evolve to be great and lead us to the promised land in Frisco.

There is no way JJ and Puke up don't play in this game, count on it!!! They may be riding on a Rascal scooter but they will be in the game. :thumb:

JJ will certainly play but Prukop may not. A healthy Bleskin is way better than a crippled Prukop.

We do but he's our 3rd stringer.

What are you basing this on? Has Simis or Gustofson thrown a pass in a game this year? At least Shay has time as a starter. I am excited to see what both are capable of, but Shay is the guy with the most game experience. He can win games. We have seen him do it. We make fun of him, but he is a selfless competitor, even if he runs like a giraffe.

JJ may very well be out of the game the first time he gets hit, and you know that is going to happen. Don't understand all the hate for SSH. How many games has he lost for us?

Prukop will definitely play. Maybe not 100 percent, but he will play. So will JJ barring a broken bone or a torn ligament.
Ash stated that Blumpkin will likely start
Of coarse he did

Last year he said delirious wouldn't play too
and kerk would be out

Haha, I forgot about Kirk for a minute. Why can't he just play for the Cats forever? He was the ultimate Cat.

Forget 2012? With SSH at the helm, our only score at home against MSU was a P. Nguyen run of 47 yards. JJ, on the other hand, has two beatdown wins vs. MSU, both at their house. No hate for SSH, he's just short of D1 skills, even after 5 years in the program.

Not just thinking Griz-cat. He has gone in a number of times when JJ was hurt.

Unless JJ is at least 90% health I would much rather see Shay. Shay is a tough kid and is faster than guys think he is. He made some good runs earlier in the season. Not saying I prefer him over JJ but depending on how JJ really is I would hope that Shay gets most of the reps this week just in case he has to go. JJ will be JJ no matter how many he gets, he just needs to nurse that ankle this week.

Shay is a nice kid, great student, and he has been a model Grizzly. He has even filled in okay a few times, particularly where he mostly had to hand off the ball. However, I still have horrible flashbacks of his performance against MSU in 2012. He is just not the answer for a big game. I wish him the best, but I really would have preferred to develop a different backup this season.

SSH will get a lot of snaps this week in practice even if JJ can start and should be ready if he has to go, big difference having a week to prepare compared to being thrown in on a moments notice due to injury.
