JJ vs. VA

I was having a beer with some Griz fans the other night and the conversation turned into JJ vs VA and the better quarterback performance would equal a victory. I do not think that is necessarily the case. I believe the Griz will not need JJ to put up ridiculous numbers to win and our running game will be a huge factor today. VA may have to over perform for the beagles to get a win. In any event I started thinking about what the final numbers for todays game would look like for each QB. Prediction

JJ - 225 yards passing and 55 rushing. 1 sack, 4 hurries and no interceptions.

VA - 300 yards passing and 35 rushing. 3 sacks, 5 hurries and 1 interception.

Griz DB's will be under pressure all day, but so will VA. Beagle receivers are going to have to make some big catches to have a chance at a win. Griz don't turn it over and hopefully we all breath easy in the fourth quarter. The crowd also makes a huge difference today!!

I think they have to go to the air, if the Griz do not put up 30+ they can't win. EWU has scored less than 34 once and that was against Toledo. They will get their points.

Just my opinion, but I hope you are right.

Have fun today, unfortunately I will not be able to watch it

Ewu will come with a blitzkrieg mentality....try to punch us hard and make us play catch up...not a good place for our scheme this year

All comes down to contain and clock management....if we fail at that it will be a long day for us

Can we channel the '85 Bear defense today?

I hope the Offensive play calling helps JJ more than hurting him. I will not be happy if I see nothing but runs and deep balls. We have to eventually show other teams more plays.

I think if we run an offensive scheme similar to the one we had against App State, we'll have a great chance to win. EWU has a very solid secondary, so a bunch of long-developing long balls are not the answer today.
