Alleged victims parents expected to testify for the state. They're in courtroom watching the trial. #JohnsonTrial

Can witnesses be present prior to their testimony??

I don't think so. This is odd in the fact that Jane Doe said she didn't want her parents there! Wierd...

I checked with a court reporter that I know, and she said that witnesses can be in the court room prior to testifying. An attorney would have to request to have them sequestered if they weren't wanted in the court room. It's probably not out of the ordinary for her parents to be there if they are going to testify.

Too bad that he can't get it in, but a study in the forensics examiner shows a 45% false accusation rate for rape.

http://www.theforensicexaminer.com/archive/spring09/15/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course this number has since been lowered by the FBI in response to political correctness police who believe no woman would ever falsely accuse someone of rape.

Thanks Biga. That makes sense that since they will likely be little more than character witnesses that they would not need to be sequestered.

there are definitely women who play the system. i've seen it happen up close, and it is repugnant. if he's innocent, johnson is 'lucky' to at least not have karen orzech as a judge. her bias against men crosses way over into the unethical.

I think her parents getting up and just saying they support her limits some damage to the prosecution. But Paoli still gets to cross examine them, and there is bound to be more contradictions. That could get ugly.

If Jane Doe's family is allegedly "blaming her" and if Jane Doe allegedly threatened her parents to "get on board" with her, what-if any-advantage could the DA have for putting the parents on the stand?

With that being said, could they be the defense's first witnesses to take the stand, and not the prosecution's witnesses?

That would be something!! It would be our first hostile witness. Fireworks, objections, getting called to the bench. Wow. That being said, I don't think so.

It seems odd if they don't testify. Doe's "close friends" are people who by their own testimony text her every week or so. That's not real close for someone sharing a few city blocks of real estate every day with 13,000 fellow students.

Yesterday, I don't think the tweets picked up that the roommate who was sleeping, was a gun nut, practiced shooting alot and was good at it, and kept multiple guns in his bedroom.
Sounds like a high character guy to me

If either one of the two kids in this trial were my or many other posters here have raised our kids. There would have been a "discussion" with them asd things unfolded that neither would have found supportive or pleasant. But once the "what the hell were you thinking" discussion was over, there is no reason to believe we wouldn't be supportive. The kids on the other hand with a major portion of their ass missing may not quite get that.

I wouldn't expect much different if her parents appear.

Please expand on that thought

I would be willing to bet on a high correlation between people that "practiced shooting a lot and was good at it, and kept multiple guns" and high character people

If it has been alleged that Jane Doe's parents in some way shape or form stated/implied that Jane Doe in some fashion brought this on herself, and Jane Doe had to threaten her parents to "get on board" with her, I would think the defense would have a hay day with it.

If her own parents did imply this, I would suggest this would have to sink in with the jury.
What am I missing here?

What you are missing is only Paoli has implied it. And face it she did bring it on herself, (so did JJ) that doesn't make it different than what it is. (whatever IT may be.) There will be no hay day without the parents.

Strange to agree with 2506 here, but if being good with guns, shooting them a lot, and owning a bunch of them somehow makes you lose credibility, it would be pretty hard to find a credible person in this state. At least of the people I know. Maybe nobody "tweeted" about it because nobody cared.

Oh, it's just orange juice. Talk about an example of terrible reporting.

Out of curiosity, has anybody observed JJ during the trial. Be interested in his demeanor? I am sure he has been well coached. Just like to know folks take on his reactions.

Tweeted not long ago.

I certainly do not know all the facts of the case but Jordan Johnson looks scared as hell. I feel bad for him in a way. #JohnsonTrial

Thanks GRZFTBL. He wil be a hell of lot more scared looking if the verdict does not come down in his favor. This thing makes me sick for all involved. Especially makes me sick if she fabricated any portion of this allegation.

FWIW the same twitter user was asked by someone if she was there at the trial and she said she wasn't. Was basing it off pictures she saw from the trial.

So pics the Missoulian wants to print...
