Jeremy Calhoun

We will get another great RB to replace Calhoun next year. Sure, he might be undersized, and 18 years old, and not ready for DI football, and not see any game time. But the main thing is: Coach Hauck set an example for any potential fifth-year starter at a talent position who just blatantly thinks he might have a shot at a roster position the following year if he redshirts. That's what gets a locker room going. That's the kind of thing that will get the LB-Poly HS coach to make sure his players take a look at Montana instead of San Jose State.

Our HC is pretty clear that he tells all kids no. Unless he likes them. Doubt anyone is confused.

Is this a problem?

Not at all. I love the way Hauck handled this.

He showed 'em who was boss, and that's really all that matters, because the kids these days think they're in charge, and negative reinforcement is the only thing that can possibly work to solve that problem.

The Kids request made more sense than the response: I would hate to think that a successful coach would be more concerned about his immediate reward, than what in my opinion, was a decision made by Jeremy that was in the best interest of his team and his family, and i am in his camp on his decision to Red Shirt.. Look i know first hand what takes place outside of the Stockmans, because I personally did exactly the same thing about 60 years ago, as well as a few ex Griz players. Don't get me wrong, i am not proud of it, and do not condone it. It is however, important to know why the term "Brawl of the Wild' , became a Catch phrase for the Griz Cat Game. Maybe it is just a Montana thing. Fists, not guns or knives.. Go Griz: Kick bobcats ass!!

That's exactly right, AWF. It's the only way they will learn.

Some aren't going to learn it that way either.

Very true.

The only way to allow him to redshirt would be to carry his three game suspension over to next year sounds fair enough! If it wasn’t for that you wouldn’t even be talking about him redshirting , it’s his own fault he missed three games this year! Let’s reward someone who got in trouble!

He already served the suspension, is this dictated by something in the new rule?

If it wasn’t for the suspension we wouldn’t be having this conversation, he would have played in more than four games by now ! So he would have had to ask to redshirt like four games back! So if he was allowed to redshirt now the suspension is meaningless, other then him getting in trouble allows him an opportunity at a fifth year of eligibility, Hauck made the right decision!

Not sure if I said this here, or behind the paywall, but Hauck should've just suspended him for the year given how little he was utilized. Or, maybe that was the plan. Give him 5-8 carries per game to burn up eligibility. Until, of course, your nuts are in a vice and you need him to avoid 4 straight losses.

Does it matter whose fault it is? Is it his fault that he got a concussion and missed some games?

Just like I said if he hadn’t got himself in trouble we wouldn’t be talking about it simple as that.

I will trust the HC's judgement of what's best for the program before Calhoun. The one who is accountable for the program as opposed to the one who is accountable for himself.

Agreed. I'm told Calhoun requested an early meeting with BH on Thursday about this whole situation. As Calhoun pulled up to the Champions Center early in the morning, he noticed only one other car in the lot. Thinking nothing of it, he went in. He approached Bobby's office, but Bobby was already there! Someday, Calhoun will thank Bobby for this.

Eastwood is a better back, runs harder, more durable and doesn't seem to quit on his teammates. I always liked that when my teammates fought on instead of quitting when things got hard.

Well, that’s just like, your opinion, man.
