He recorded the courtroom monitor showing the fight in question

Kid should not be in bars at 0130 hrs anyway if he is representing the University on a scholarship. And he darn sure better know how to walk away from fights. Bobby should take him off the team as an example to the team, the school and the community by way of expressing his new way of handling the things that have haunted him in the past. Nut up, can him and move on. We will have a running game without him.
Do you really think that UM athletes or athletes of any school aren't in or near bars at 1:30am in the offseason, especially the spring or summer for athletes in fall sports? Go downtown to Stocks or Mo Club on virtually any weekend night, and count the athletes there.
I don't disagree with you on athletes making better choices. And staying away from fights.
When the fairly tough Code of Conduct spells out a 10% of games, or 2 game, suspension, it wouldn't seem right to me for someone to get kicked off the team. Why even have a code of conduct if the school/coach doesn't generally follow it.
The representing the university argument drives me nuts. Why/how is an athlete in a bar representing the university?I just don't understand why athletes are held to higher standards than students generally. What's so special about athletes?
Really? Really?!? Come on man....I love the Griz as much as anyone else, but that's ridiculous. Ask any coach and they will tell you it is a privilege to play college sports, regardless of the sport. You add in that it's football (you know, the most popular sport in America) and it's easy to see how these young men represent the universities they play for. It's a bad look for the student athlete, football team, athletic department, and the university when this happens. To deny you don't understand why they are held to different standards, or what is "so special" about them is either ill-informed at best, or willfully ignorant. You pick which best fits you, counsellor.
I played 2 college sports, have kids who played college sports, have some relatives who coached college sports, and have talked to lots of college coaches. Not one has ever told me it's a privilege to play college sports. That's mostly a cliche.
Again, I don't see a reason for college athletes to be held to higher standards than others. Makes no sense to me intellectually. I know they are, but please don't insult me with some cliche (probably invented by someone who never played college sports).
Did you ever play college sports?

We handle all discipline through our Student-Athlete Code of Conduct,” Montana coach Bobby Hauck said Wednesday at practice, before Calhoun’s court appearance. “That’s where it goes, and beyond that, we don’t address it. … Our two-deep that we produced on Tuesday is all we’re going to say about that. I haven’t given him much thought, frankly. He hasn’t been in the mix, so if he ever works his way into the mix, we’ll give that some thought.”
Yep, the definition of the doghouse. I’m guessing this 3rd game suspension is due to the disorderly conduct after the fight. Man, if this kid can redshirt he may want to look into that hard.

sdk.catfish said:I don't know. If I was a running back playing behind the offensive line we have seen up to now I might be in the bar at 1:30 wondering if I could average over 2.5 YPC. And most of us were in a bar at one time at 1:30 when we were in college. Got to stay out of fights though. But times have changed and we all have to accept it. Honestly at this point I don't feel it significant who we really have in the backfield as a running back. I give some credit to Hauck and Rosy to simply accept that we will move the ball with a very controlled passing attack. Sneed throws a pretty good short and intermediate pass so that has been working. I don't see this as a significant impediment to the season.
