Granted, I don't know what the standard penalty is for something like this in Missoula County. Two years, even suspended, seems wild for a misdemeanor. Probation, sure. Two years, suspended seems excessive if a suspended sentence means what I think it means. My understanding is that he will have to say he was technically sentenced to two years in jail. Maybe someone can help me understand?
The sentence is deferred, not suspended, which means he has no record if he stays out of trouble for 24 months. It only works if he is committed to walking the straight and narrow. He has an outstanding criminal defense attorney. We will not see Jeremy Calhoun in trouble again after he completes his suspension.
Whew, got it. Thanks! I don't know where I got 'suspended'.
Maybe you had read my incorrect post right above your post.
Ha! I honestly think it was the title of the thread that put it in my brain, but good call.
