Stitt and Choate weren't there. Means nothing now. Time will tell going forward.

havgrizfan said:It's true Choate wasn't MSU's first choice. It's been confirmed. Choate's name was mentioned early in the Griz hiring process last year, but I don't believe he got a final interview. Interesting hire for MSU. I'm sure he will do very well, especially if he wants, or can convince Cramsey to stay and run the offense. I think it's a good hire, but, as with any coaching change, only time will tell. I do think it's a bit premature though for MSU fans to assume the 2016 Cat defense automatically got better today, just because Choate was a defensive assistant. But all, in, all I think it's a good hire. They went with the one candidate who had true Montana ties.

That's fine.but my point is still fact. Having ties cements you as a state born or raised. Shit, I have "ties" to Atl, NYC, Wa,Wyo, Utah, Calif,Oregon, Alberta, because I have friends and "contacts" in those areas....BIG difference.havgrizfan said:Dmont, that's not true at all. Um, yeah KVA or JJ in your example don't have Montana ties. The only "ties" they have is that they went to school here and "friends" from that. Dave Dickenson has Montana ties. Perfect current example, a current Griz player, He shows pictures of Montana but comments how he misses home and that MT is sort of "like" his "home" state but he can make do and likes it. That's not ties Hav and you damn well know ithavgrizfan said:So, Dmont, by that rationale, I guess you're saying Kendrick Van Ackeren or Jordan Johnson don't have Montana ties, even though they gave their heart and souls to the Griz, the University of Montana and Griz Nation? I know many, many, many former Griz, and hell, current Griz, who consider Montana another home to them, and not one of them were born in this state. Choate is still a very popular name at UM-Western, and very, very respected amongst those who played with and against him during his time in the Frontier Conference. Sorry, I just completely disagree with that statement above.

Not being a smart ass here, but the main take away from his coaching byo is - that he does not last long wherever her goes. Seriously - why would you hire a guy that job hops that much? Furthermore, he has never been a offensive or defensive coordinator at the college level. Now he is a head coach? Not sure this was a good hire. I am not trying to be an ass - just pointing out the obvious.
Lol! No one did...u have great input here Hav but the tie thing is just a very special thing to perhaps only me. Enough for my part. Ive tried as I've got older to not be a blowhard on here. It just struck a cord tonight. My bad.havgrizfan said:dMONT, ok, I'll let you keep ranting. But who the heck said anything about discrediting Super Dave or anyone else? lol
