Walter Wright, a sophomore point guard at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, committed to play for the Montana Grizzlies about an hour ago.

Wright, who played his prep basketball in Waterbury, Connecticut, is 5-10 and touted for his quickness and defensive skills.

Here is a video featuring Wright toward the end of his sophomore year at Snow.

Snow college was recently eliminated in the semifinals of the Region 18 Scenic West Athletic Conference, 75-62 to the eventual champs, College of Southern Idaho.

Snow led his team in scoring this season, scoring 697 points at 21.8 points per game, and at a 48 pct., 32 pct from beyond the 3 point arc.

He is expected to give the Griz an immediate boost in quickness and perimeter defense, and generate offensive versatility with his quickness to the bucket.

The Grizzlies will have one more scholarship to give. At a UM roundball club gathering 10 days ago, Montana Coach Travis DeCuire said Montana had offered seven players scholarships for the two positions, indicating that the first two players to commit would receive the scholarships.

The other position is expected to be filled by a wing or shooting forward.

Thanks for the find and posting. Too bad there are other threads on it. lol
I guess this is a sign that Travis likes the progress being made by Dejong and Boehning (sp?)

TD has spoken very highly of both Boehning and DeJong. Word is Montana coaches believe the front court is in good hands for the next four years.... primarily because Fabijan Krslovic has played so well.I don't know how much each will play next year, but if the Griz don't get another rebounder, one of the two will get minutes.

I gathered from how Griz coaches described the seven players that were recruited... that they went after a group of very talented players who could all make an immediate impact for the Griz and in the Big Sky... and made it clear that the first players to commit to the position they were recruited to would get the scholarship. Want to emphasize that the coaches did not speak of the recruits personally, but more about the recruiting process and the "types" of players they wanted.

I was watching the Grizzly Report tonight on ABC and they did a feature tonight on Ken Bone. Showed him working with DeJong and Boehning. They both looked a little beefier and quicker than I expected, but it is hard to tell from that brief and limited a video.

Hoping for the best.
