Marty is great. Off the cuff and more knowledgeable than anyone on this forum. Jay is ROUGH to listen to IMO. They are quite the duo😂. At least we don’t have to listen to the Cats announcers. If I hear “back to the ground game” one more time I’m gonna snap.
If we were playing a drinking game and had to drink everytime he said “back to the ground game“ I’d be dead.

The cats' announcer is smoother and more articulate than Jay, but doesn't have any more football knowledge. In cat Griz last year he was calling every pass out to the flat as a screen and then Ty would have to correct him on what the route actually was. He's definitely a lot more polished than Jay but has the same low football IQ. Call me crazy but I feel like the person doing the play-by-play should have some idea of the basics of football. I know it's a lot to ask. 🙄

I watched the game again tonight. The announcing gaffes/idiosyncracies hit a lot different when you watch a Griz win back on replay. The stress and anxiety we all feel during the game results in zero grace for Jay and Marty.

I agree, Marty definitely won't be mistaken for Troy Aikman or Mike Tirico anytime soon, but he does have great insight and will prompt a laugh from his absurdity. I like him in the booth

BTW, honestly how good was Marty on Saturday. Personally I thought he killed it. Might have been his best broadcast ever. Until this Saturday anyway.

Did anyone catch Jay's flub Saturday when Weber State scored a touchdown and Jay said, "Touchdown Montana" yikes... 😂

comedy gold, right there. nice work.
Jay is a very nice guy and arguably a Montana treasure, but he's not a football announcer. He doesn't have the familiarity, comfort, or insight to speak on the sport or team for three hours. And I think it's fair to say he's shown his interest level in getting there. It didn't work for MTN to cut this particular corner and plug in a familiar face. It's time to hire a play-by-play professional.
