Maybe to make sure that the snap gets caught? There were a couple of really bad snaps early on.

Also... This game sure has a ton of penalties. I don't know that I've ever seen a championship game with this many.
 
Now SHSUs QB might be hurt? How many QBs are going to get hurt before this thing is over?

He went back in but he looks a bit ginger.

Exactly right! Heidi at QB for SDSU should be pulled. Not working at all. Gonna cost them the game.

That SMHS trickery doesn’t work. All that throwing and jiving around and only got 1-2 yards - it just doesn’t work.
 
I know this is going to sound snobby, but both of these teams and coaching staffs look like they have never played in a national championship game. Lots of strange play calls and some very bad clock/game management.

Couldn’t agree more. It looks like an NAIA Championship game.

Looks like: "Sometimes you outsmart yourself."

Of course, the SHSU coach, K.C. Keeler, has taken teams to a Nattie game (D-III and FCS) several times, winning with Delaware in 2003. That does not, however, mean any of his assistants have any experience along those lines.
 
Now that is how you play football! That true freshman running back, Davis, is pretty darn impressive. Broke at least 3 tackles and in for an incredible TD!

Wow, would love to see Davis in maroon and silver! Haven’t seen a run like that in a long time.
 
Eric Schmid threaded that needle! His composure against this SDSU blitz is very impressive! Very tough kid with a huge future!
 
i just tuned in, and saw the last play. that's it, just the last play and the start of the celebration/lament. given the situation, seemed like a bad decision to throw that pass, pitch the ball, and not go straight out of bounds. but i base my judgement on barely catching the video of the very last play.
