Jacks QB at Reds

In Texas, from what I have been told, the legal drinking age was raised to 21 on September 1, 1986.
So if they represent SFA which rules apply for them?

Montana
- No one under the age of 21 is allowed to purchase (so I'm assuming you're not allowed to drink it either.) I didn't find the BAC limit for anyone under 21 (if there is one), but I did find that the BAC (at least for someone 21 years old or older) is more than a BAC of 0.04 but less than 0.10.

Other State Laws Related To Alcohol Use:

Laws Establishing the Minimum Ages
Concerning Alcoholic Beverages:
Minimum Age (Years) Sale/Purchase: 21722 §§16-3-301(3)(a) and (4) and 16-6-305(1) (a)
and(b)
Minimum Age (Years) Possession: 21723 §45-5-624(1)(b) There is an employment
exemption.
Minimum Age (Years) Consumption: 21

I actually think it might work to their advantage. They have plenty of time to get the alcohol out of their systems all while taking some edge off the nerves. A little relaxing before the game is not necessarily a bad thing. I thought, however, that their QB was a freshman? So, unless he is a non-trad freshman, perhaps Reds needs to kick up the carding policy.

One hand it's Thursday night good for them. Other hand I'm thinking of all the trouble one could get into. Makes me wonder is the QB a good team leader or a bad team leader. I guess if they win, it proves he belongs in the HOF of team leaders.

It's easier than this. No one who is younger than 21 can possess it in this state. Can't buy it, can't drink it, can't even have it.

Just looked it up. He's a Junior and just turned 21 a mere three months ago.

Rule number 1: Never Ever wear your school issued clothing out to a bar. We would have gotten our asses kicked by the coaches in college for this.

Honestly
How would you as a fan react if you saw a picture of Bergquist and other players at a bar two nights before the Griz had to play at JMU or at Chattanooga against Richmond last year?

at Chattanooga....... dang kid just can't focus on the game and is distracting his team mates.

Huh? The drinking age in Montana has been 21 for a long time....since 1987 according to my google search.

Regardless, I am surprised to see the SFA boys out on the town, whether they are legal age or not. You would think the coach would keep them on a pretty short leash during a road trip for a big playoff game. I have a hard time believing that Hauck would be very happy if he saw pictures of his guys drinking at the bar a couple of nights before the game.

The first pick doesn't look like a harmless beer. It looks like a shot. Sometimes when you buy a round of shots for many people, they give you those little cheezy plastic cups instead of shot glasses. A beer to keep loose is one thing, but shots?

...and what planet do you live on that you still think that? Didn't it change to 19 in 1979 and 21 in the late 1980's???

Welcome to the year 2009 Rip Van Winkle...

You're right. Cuz Moses has a glass of beer sitting on the table in front of him.

I'm just glad they went out. Now we can waist the time away talking about this. And of course the Weather, crowd noise, team speed and moving up to the WAC or MWC.

This is beside the point of the thread, but...

In the state of Montana, someone who is younger than 21 can drink alcohol in the presence of their parent(s). However, they cannot drink to intoxication. This law was passed in the late 1980's (if I remember right) to protect servers from situations like a child having a little wine with their parents at a restaurant.

I was a bartender through college.

Please folks. They went out for a couple of beers 2 nights before the game? Have any of you ever been around the Griz players? Any idea what night they do on Thursday nights before a game? Think the coaches "kick some ass" over it?

I would bet there were a couple of coaches or part of the traveling party there with them to make sure it was just a few drinks. Good for them. They may need some anti-freeze. 6 degrees this morning at my house.

in the olden daze, the same picture could have been taken of morhinweg... at 2 am at the ox, 10 hours prior to the game.

It looks to me like a couple of the people in the photos are older, as in coaches. Could be they believe in a little controlled fun for relaxation.

I was going to argue with you about this, but you're right and that statute is still on the books:

"(b) A parent, guardian, or other person may not knowingly sell or otherwise provide an alcoholic beverage in an intoxicating quantity to a person under 21 years of age.

(c) For the purposes of this section, "intoxicating quantity" means a quantity of an alcoholic beverage that is sufficient to produce:
(i) a blood, breath, or urine alcohol concentration in excess of 0.05; or
(ii) substantial or visible mental or physical impairment."

Mont. Code Ann. § 16-6-305.

Huh.
