Our defense is not dominant this year, but so what, our offense can put up alot of points, and I will take a high scoring game that the Griz win anytime over a like a 13 to 7 defensive battle. Yes the Griz miss alot of tackles, but it looks to me like all the teams we play miss just as many tackles.

This is just an observation but the cats held an All-American running back to just 27 yards this weekend
Wooopiddy frickendooo, And every other team in the BSC has kept some running back at bay in a game or two.
That stat and about .75 cents will buy you a coke, don't mean shit in your next game.

Whew...I just finished reading the comments. Not too shocked by anything. I'll make a few comments and move on to Davis. I have NOT brought up a single stat in my comments. I agree with many of you... stats are bullsh!t. There are a few pros here who pick out the # that fits their agenda and they run with it. Currently,.. ANY stat comments are AMPLIFIED with DII games...PSU at least 2...so I'll wipe after I hit submit. Take my fandom elsewhere??? F.U. I added 2 more season tix this year. I made no mention of any athlete's name. Attention whore...? I've started very few threads. EWU is coming in soon...with conviction I can say the team who tackles will win the game. All the way back to when that p...k zornes ran the prison... I'd love to leave zootown with a big smile after we roast their asses. :egriz:

Is this Corey Stapleton or some other politician that wants to remain behind a screen name, because you deflected all of the information differing from your view as statistical garbage. Yet the point wasn't that because a past team won the NC while lagging in defense ergo this team would win a NC but rather your post is reactionary. Also you actually referred to a player as a pu$&y in another of your oh so informative posts. Saying a team that tackles wins games is akin to saying the team that scores more touchdowns wins games.

Face it, your a fan with limited real football knowledge who likes to point out the deficits to rationalize your complaints of this team and justify it by say it is "reality". When in fact the majority on this board acknowledge that the defense has been a bit underwhelming especially considering hype but there are factors beyond that explain part of the issue. You talk of winning as it is your RIGHT as a fan that the Griz win all games, play mistake free football and satisfy you by filling whatever void in your life has compelled you to become so disgruntled that your willing to call a kid that represents the University of Montana a pu$&y.

I will defend all day long your right to free speech, but don't expect many, if any to defend your point of view. So you bought two more season tickets, BFD, somebody would have gotten them if you hadn't. Do you want to be a fan and help the University? Donate to the GSA. Oh yeah and before you even think it I'm a former player, Lifetime member of the Alumni Association, have had season tickets for over 20 years, and donate at the President's Club level and have served on the state GSA Board. So in other words I have no more voice then you, just that I have put my money where my mouth is.

I am not overly pleased with many aspects of the current Griz performance, but I just go about trying to bring them up rather the tearing them down. I never got to play in front of 26,000 at a home game but I'll freely admit that my first time out in front of 13500, I just about peed myself out of fear of making a mistake and the game was already in the bag. The vast majority of kids out there aren't on full rides, put in way more then the NCAA allowed time on there own, care more then you would believe and play for each other first, their University second. But to the man, all of them are mindful of what is expected of them. THAT is the reality!

My view is that most people who complain too much don't know enough about football to contribute much of anything else, are mainly just trying to get some attention and get a rise out of other posters, and never played or understood the game at much of a level. They claim may be fans, but in my view they are bad fans. They have no clue what reality is.

One nice thing I've noticed in this and the other complaining threads, is that there are alot of posters who do in fact understand where the Griz are at this point of the season and obviously understand football.

Which is... where exactly? In other words, now that we're almost half way through the season what is the prediction for the griz record at the end of regular season?

There is no need to apologize, it was true. I was an 19 year old kid, it was a packed home game in MIssoula which at that time with the grass enzone had about 13500 people and I got to play. I wanted to do well for me, my team etc. and I didn't want to make a mistake. I know it is all digital video now , but back then on Sunday nights we watched the game film as a team before before breakng out by position to get ready for the next week. All of the really good plays, and the really bad ones were run back and forth and a stupid mistake was cannon fodder for all on the team, except the Redshirts.

Im not trying to set myself up here as some person that doesn't believe relevant banter about the shortcoming of a team should be discussed. I just get my dander up when a "fan" that believes because they buy season tickets, can see everything happen in front of them from their seat and then can dispense their vast knowledge of the game including call one player a Pu&%y. I bet that player and his position mates would love to get that guy to strap it up and go through some drills. By the time they were done with him he could be called Mirs Rimrockgriz because they would had hit him so hard, they would have change his gender.

I was never a starter and despite all of the practice, spring practice etc if you don't play at game speed all of the time, it is an eyeopener. 75% of my playing time came when the game was in the bag, the other 25 was when something happened to the starter, and it is vastly different when the game is on the line and ten guys in the huddle are looking at you to make sure you will step up and at least not cause somebody to get hurt or do something to lose the game. They have hopes you will play above yourself, but at the very least they hope you stop the leak. Hell, I will even acknowlege that if the 1985 version of myself was here today, I would n't get asked to walk on for any FCS school and I'd be lucky to play for a top ranked NAIA school. The game has changed that much and the players that much bigger, faster and stronger then amost 30 years ago.

There's a growing number of posters commenting about some of us NOT being happy at this juncture of the season. Well if you've been watching football at WAGS for decades you KNOW where the level of play needs to be to get a TITLE. Let's face it if your not here for a title, your in the WRONG place. (maybe Saturday afternoons at the everyone gets a trophy event is more to your liking) First of all the big EGG LAYING event at Flagstaff was the 1st clue this may not be the year. It's still possible, but not typical of championship football. Second of all we're being GASHED on "D" by multiple teams. As many of you know, deep playoff football doesn't survive with a glaring weakness on your ball club. Mature football teams can usually win playoff games simply by exposing "one" weakness by a football team. Thirdly, we are NOT fundamentally sound in many areas. Look at our tackling, because it is easily evaluated by most astute football fans. I needed "2" hands to count the "grassers" taken by one starter Saturday...after I noticed his glaring poor fundamentals. There have been MANY good things so far out of the 2013 campaign! OPSU...don't even count it if your a realist...it did nothing for our starters. Lots of football to go, but look at it the way is...GO GRIZ !!! :egriz:

I'm sure the comment about watching for decades was to debuke the idea that you are a bandwagon fan, yet you are worst then a bandwagon fan in my eyes. I'll concende the Griz don't look like they will be playing in January this year, but when you have unrealistic expectations, you have no choice but to be disapointed. Show me one team a the FCS level that has been able to have anywhere near the run the Griz have. GSU had their time but they did it with an offense few outside of their conference ever saw and they have had their ups and downs since. APPY had a great run, but their time is over. Youngstown State did well for years under Tressel, but where have they gone since. Name me one other program in FCS that has gone on to do what the Griz have done despite complete coaching changes?

I'm not calling for mediore results, I just saying that the Big Sky has caught up. Hell, when I played and we played EWU, we went into Spokane and played at Joe Robbe. The simple fact is that the Griz or any team in the Big Sky will not dominate and have a run like the Griz did ever again. When I walk in to WGS, I expect to see a group of young men playing their arese off. I expect them to win. I expect them to go to class, enjoy being young mean in college ( but avoid legal issues) and if the ball bounces right, go deep into the playoffs. Then I want them to graduate and go out to use their degree and all they learned from playing football to become productive citizens. Beyond that, and I think you are looking for too much and you can send you fandom behind some other team.

I can see how the late Joe Robb(i)e might be confused with Joe Albi, he of the Spokane stadium. Robbie was the original owner of the Miami Dolphins and interestingly enough is actually on record as having made a financial contribution to Griz athletics...

B2BG: Looks like I struck a chord or 2 not to your liking. The most affect you' ve had on me was the comments on the GSA. You are absolutely right on that one. I need to make it a priority instead of a "I'll do that after the taxes are done". Fostering pets and adult protective services don't do much for Griz athletes. I'm a little surprised at the pu$$ y comments though...I didn't mention any names...and wouldn't...I haven't changed my opinion one degree though. Like you I went through 4 fall camps and 3 spring ball fiascos...however the most difficult camp I went through was Fort Jackson, South Carolina at 95 degrees and 100% humidity. People seem to use the word "cannon fodder" quite loosely now and football is no comparison. :egriz:

First you continue to deflect the comments against your points. And the mere fact that you called any player a pu$&y is, named or not, ridiculous . You can be unhappy with performance, you can insinuate that you could coach better, but you cannot degrade any player with such terms. It isn't a matter of being PC. And don't try to pull the PC crap on the word cannon fodder as if only those that have served can, by the way. I went through OCS in Virginia and have raised my right hand taking the oath. Then I went into Law Enforcement for a period of time. So you a jaw jacking a middle aged, former Devil Dog, former cop that can appreciate straight talk when it is correct, but you sir are not correct.

Noted in the recent "Want Adds for the Griz" were the following:

Wanted: One good singer for the national anthem for Griz games.

Wanted: One good corner for the defense, please note we have one in place but need two.

Needed: One football coach that is ready to call a few sneaky trick plays a game and does not call time out to decide if a field goal should be kicked on fourth down!

Play calling will fool the world if we run three running plays in one sequence or three passing plays. Wanted a part time play caller from the ranks of E-Griz.

Grassers are not wanted or needed on the team any longer, submit anti-grasser ideas and the best one will be selected and ready for the next home game.

Final need is beer drinking fans to learn how to "quick drink" two or more beers and pee faster than the second string QB can move!

Please submit your qualifications etc. to Royce Florio at the next "how to improve UM enrollment" meeting. Head speaker is Pat Honest Williams.
