It wasn't the play calling.

It all starts up front. We went to the passing game in Arizona and just about got Johnson killed. The o-line needs to execute better for any game plan to work. I really think Poole is a better tackle than guard. Schmaing seems to struggle with fast hard charging d ends. Daly will give him fits. Not to mention the fact that Delaney has publicly made it clear he will run the ball on offense and stop the run on defense. Bottom line is the offensive line is not getting it done. Gragg needs to get this fixed pdq.

this is right on...when the o-line is equally matched, they have been of no consequence...it does start with them and unless or until they get an attitude of dominating the d-line we are going to have big trouble with the better teams....if one looks objectively at the nau and cal poly game, this was obvious......

I think the Griz used, what,6 different offensive plays all day... I guess they didn't want to give EWU a lot of different looks on film for next week.

And yes it was partially the playcalling although I give Poly a ton of credit. They were disciplined and played very well. Made Montana look like a high school offense all day. All I can say is Scott Gregg better coach these guys up because they are very inconsistent. If you don't trust a mammoth O-Line with a big fullback to get 2 yards inside the 5 yard line twice in a game something is wrong.

This isn't far off of what I saw. I have a really hard time to believe that if we give the ball to Wilson or Counts in the short yardage situations they couldn't knock someone backwards for a couple yards. I can't remember the last time I have seen Wilson get an actual hand off?

It did feel like we were banging our head against the wall for most of the game this weekend. We ran a lot of the same plays, Motioning the TE in then back out and running to his side. If I could spot that, I know the opposing coaches and defense saw it coming a mile away. There were many, many times that CP had 8+ players inside the box and we would still try to run it up the middle with a smaller back. We had a lot of luck getting them spread out and doing the quick passes and running inside the TE's when they were spread out. They practice day in and day out against an offense that runs wide and pitches a lot so I don't know why we thought that with our slow developing wide running plays would work against them. Canad was a 1/2 step off this weekend because he had holes to run through but the CP backers were very efficient at closing those up quickly. Canada did a bit too much dancing rather than getting up field for me this weekend.

All in all, our offense seemed very unbalanced this week and I hope we can get it turned around for next weekend. This game had a hell of an ending but I would prefer to not leave it to final minute heroics like last time. JJ has proven he is more than capable of taking control of a game and picking apart a defense. I hope the coaches realize this. Hats off to our defense especially Tripp and Coyle. Those guys played phenomenal
