It is getting interesting in Idaho

Boise and SDSU in the Big East is a joke. If the college football landscape is really changing then Boise should join USU, SDSU, Fresno, NMSU, maybe New Mexico, Idaho and look to add Montana and Montana St. You would only have an 9 team conference and 1/2 have good football programs already. Most other schools would kick the crap out of Boise in basketball so it would all be fair in those money sports. Few years down the road UM, MSU and Idaho would be helped by the stability and having a Boise in football and a quality basketball league to join.

Well, with the addition of USU and SJSU to the MWC and Fresno & UNM already IN the MWC, any hope of forming a 2nd Western football sub-BCS conference probably had died along with it. I still believe if BSU and SDSU come back west, they'll go back to the MWC, since there's only two FBS schools without a home. No WAY Boise is going to want to try to carry THAT mess...plus, they've finally freed themselves of the albatross that is U of I, why would they want to go back to that?

The Mountain West would have 10 football playing members for 2013-14, nine in basketball with the following membership: UNLV, New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State, Wyoming, Colorado State, Air Force, Utah State, and San Jose State. Hawaii is a football-only member.

What are the rules if the WAC continued as an OLY. only conference ? Could they add football back in after a couple years and still be a FBS conf. ?

Geography is killing Boise. They can't get into the PAC-12 and there is really no other top level program out west not in a BCS conference. Fact is Boise would fill the stands playing U of I and vice versa. They may not like it but a few years of getting back to playing Idaho, Montana, Montana St and developing those old rivalries would be positive for the school. They can play their BCS games in the OOC....just the way it is going to be. The Big East will not help them anymore and will be costly as most away conference games require a cross country flight.

Have you ever talked to a Boise fan?? They have worked there asses off to get where they are. There is NO WAY IN HELL Boise will be in the same conference as UM and msu

actaully its not impossible but to any Boise fan its about as attractive as UM moving down into the Montana high school C football.

The truth is the University of Montana and Boise played each other in the same league not that long ago and they are not in complete different universes. Boise is way ahead in funding, success and overall reputation but Montana could get there in the future. Do we want to? Are we even willing to try? Thess are the actual questions at hand not is it possible to even get there.

The big eastern and big western schools are going to keep giving BSU you aint good enough treatment for a long time. They played in our pathetic conference for christ sake just a few years ago.

Why do the people that cry for us to move up the loudest almost always consist of people who are financially inept? You didn't have enough money to get to safety from your life in Japan and had to rely on others just recently to do so. What the hell do you know about the finances necessary to move up? Just admit you personally could never be relied upon to do so and we can view your opinion with the merit it deserves. :thumb:

The geography will come to them. The Big East will be adding a couple more schools from the west eventually to help level the divisions out, especially when they lose a couple more schools to either the ACC or Big 12.

17 years ago is like yesterday? Forget BSU with several top ten finishes since. Montana cannot be mentioned in the same breath with BSU today. Top 10 FCS vs. top tem BCS is a lot of distance.

Well damn....

Maybe it will LA, but it sure appears that our bubble has burst. Hopefully, someone will step in with an immediate plan to stop the total destruction of our football program and further damage to the university.

I don't see that. I see a good team, possibly as good as last years.
The problems, if there will be any, will begin to show themselves on the recruiting road, and coaching search next year and beyond. The UM football program has some very good kids and coaches and the fact that UM is now being proactive in cleaning up what never should have been, in the first place, bodes well for the future of UM....the sky has not fallen....it is cloudy and stormy, but that will pass.

I think UM will be pretty good this year and next. UM has been fortunate to have recruited some very, very good personnel, and, the numbers of UM players in the pro ranks is an incentive to recruit others, often overlooked by the "big" leagues...I don't think things are that bad...just ugly.
