putter said:Boise and SDSU in the Big East is a joke. If the college football landscape is really changing then Boise should join USU, SDSU, Fresno, NMSU, maybe New Mexico, Idaho and look to add Montana and Montana St. You would only have an 9 team conference and 1/2 have good football programs already. Most other schools would kick the crap out of Boise in basketball so it would all be fair in those money sports. Few years down the road UM, MSU and Idaho would be helped by the stability and having a Boise in football and a quality basketball league to join.
Well, with the addition of USU and SJSU to the MWC and Fresno & UNM already IN the MWC, any hope of forming a 2nd Western football sub-BCS conference probably had died along with it. I still believe if BSU and SDSU come back west, they'll go back to the MWC, since there's only two FBS schools without a home. No WAY Boise is going to want to try to carry THAT mess...plus, they've finally freed themselves of the albatross that is U of I, why would they want to go back to that?
The Mountain West would have 10 football playing members for 2013-14, nine in basketball with the following membership: UNLV, New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State, Wyoming, Colorado State, Air Force, Utah State, and San Jose State. Hawaii is a football-only member.
