If you can't see the overall talent on this roster AND the speed at the skill positions, then we are all very lucky you have nothing to do with recruiting. The reason I ask is because if you think Stitt is a poor coach then maybe the players were put into position to fail and possibly the team the new coach will inherit will be better than Delaney or Stitt inherited. In other words if Stitt et al were so bad they needed to be fired possibly we dont really know how great these players are. I think two of Stitts recruiting classes were top 10 in the FCS. Furthermore if the coaches were a major problem Hauck wont have them to worry about as they wont be there and he will have a great opportunity to prove he is the coach we are hoping for by taking us into the playoffs next year.

Getting a 7-4 team back to the top should not be as hard. I'm not buying the claims we will go down before we go back up. There are obvious fixes to most of the problems the previous coach could not see.

This is worthless example that doesn’t prove anything. College football is littered with examples of coaches that seemingly turned around programs in their first year or two only to fail in down the road.

Gene Chizik had Auburn doing great in his 2nd year, (14-0), but by year 4 couldn’t win a game in conference and was fired.

Brady Hoke started hot with the bichigan winning 11 games, but by year 4 had a losing season and fans couldn't wait to get rid of him

Jim Mora looked like a genius when he had back to back 10 win seasons in years 2 and 3, but faded after that was just fired.

So initial success doesn’t mean a coach has turned a program around.

Well, that's definitely pretty uncool.

Back on topic, I think everyone can agree that 7-4 next year ain't gonna cut it. I think UM will have to reevaluate the HC position after two years if BH doesn't get it back to the semis, at the very least. Maybe three years, but that's it. I think he can do it, but I'll have no qualms if UM sends him packing if he doesn't. If I were Haslam, I would make this clear in interviews with all candidates.

I expect us to make the playoffs next year. I actually was confident Stitt was going to have a good year next year. I can't see any reason why we don't go 8-3 next year, no matter who the coach is.

Yeah, MD had a rough starting point. You're right that BH is in a MUCH better position to start. But I'm not going to accept mediocrity and excuses anymore, which is why I supported this change. If I enjoyed 7-4, not winning in the playoffs, and not sniffing the semis, I would've been against the change. You might be OK with that, but I'm not. If BH doesn't get it done in the short term, fire him and find someone who can.
