Is there pressure on this team to win another championship before we move up?

Are you suggesting the defensive coordinator or a position coach is to blame for the OFFENSE giving up a pot load of sacks and turnovers and not the OFFENSIVE coordinator?
I am saying that an OC who arrived after recruiting and who didn’t hire the OL coach is not responsible. Is that hard for you to understand? Do you blame Pease for UM’s OL play? You really know nothing about football.

As far as going back to spring ball in 2013 it looks like they had their qb from 2012 graduate, the backup from 2012 was a junior in 2013 that quit the team in October. The guy who was supposed to be a backup in 2013 started in 10 games and appeared to be the best quarterback on the team regardless of injury.

“By giving up his dream of being a winning Division I quarterback, Adamczyk is doing good for himself and for the Wildcats’ hopes of returning to respectability in football. First, Adamczyk can start preparing for a healthier life after football, and treat himself appropriately to recover from his injury. Second, his leaving opens up the playing opportunities for his successor, Austin Chipoletti, as Weber attempts to move on from a very dark period in the history of its football program.

Quite frankly, Adamczyk’s days were numbered once the season began. Did the injury take a chunk of those days away? Absolutely. However, was the freshman Chipoletti bound to push Adamczyk out eventually? Absolutely.”

“For the last several weeks, the Weber State coaching staff has tried playing both quarterbacks, with underwhelming results. Again, it wasn’t that Adamczyk performed badly in his appearances; it’s just that Chipoletti appeared to be able to do more with the offense physically, and the Wildcats need more, not less”

Also you said top 3 or so and then edited it.
The starter was replaced when he got hurt. Do some research. He didn’t quit. He had surgery and retired. You said the 2012 backup quit in October. The eventual 2013 starter was so bad he wasn’t on the roster in 2014. The 2014 season had a worse record than in 2013.

You should heed Helena’s word. You start arguments and say stuff when you don’t know what you are talking about. Everyone can see you are an idiot.

The “worse” 2014 team scored 40 more points or a little bit more than 3 points per game average on offense compared to 2013. You are an idiot who again knows nothing about this situation. I talk to many people who were involved with the team when there was a scholarship reduction because of violations during Pflu’s 2011 season. The loss of scholarships from the violations are what sunk the program not firing Pflu and O’day. There is no point in arguing this when it is clear as day when you look at the record taking out the 2011 scholarship reduction causing year with Hauck’s players there is nothing spectacular at all. WSU player talent dropped significantly during his tenure as recruiting coordinator. If he did not fail at Weber why did he have to wait so long for his next job at JuCo where he went 3-7?

I would blame Brent Pease if the offense was giving up a pot load of sacks and turnovers but that is not the case with the Griz this season.

I said the 2014 team had a worse record. It did. Pflu was not at Weber for even one recruiting season. He had nothing to do with who Weber had or got.

Everyone knows that the firing of Pflu had a huge negative impact on the program. Not one person in Griz land would agree with your dumb statement. That is one of the dumbest comments ever made on egriz. At least, everyone can see how uninformed you are. You are a joke.

The firing at UM and how it was done kept him from getting jobs. I think I was told that Engstrom would get calls and sort of badmouth him or not say anything positive. Can’t recall. Not many people in the world know more on the Pflu situation than I do. Both Plfu and O’Day are good friends. I texted with both today. You don’t know what you anre talking about. You are stupid.

You are an idiot. 1) Firing Pflu did not cause the violations or loss of scholarships which is what sunk the program but it could be argued that hiring him did. 2) His firing from UM did not keep him from getting jobs, he got the OC job at Weber a year later. 3) Engstrom never has said anything negative about Pflu quite the contrary he wrote Pflu a glowing letter of recommendation.

“The show-clause punishment for Pflugrad at Weber State came as a part of a separate incident while at Montana, as the NCAA said he failed in his duties to monitor the football program. Among other issues, the October 2011 arrests of Trumaine Johnson and Gerald Kemp led to a booster posting the $340 bond for the two at the request of one of the player's grandfathers, who later repaid her. An attorney then provided each with about $1,500 in free legal representation after a student employee in the football office told the players his mother was a lawyer. The two were arrested as police tried to break up a party, leading to officers using stun guns on the players.”

Did firing Pflu lead to these October 2011 arrests?

You have your own skewed version of reality of this situation based on your self admitted friendship with Pflu. I know many people who were involved with the fallout from the Pflu sanctions while he was sitting on his ass at home writing Coog blogs. Why don’t you text someone from the Delaney or Stitt staff to get their opinion since they were actually around for the consequences?

The bub trolls love to make fun of the number of championships that the Griz have by saying the Cats have more championships counting ones that were given by votes from newspaper reporters. The Griz will probably not compete for a championship immediately in the FBS nor will they be eligible for FCS postseason after announcing the move up so now is the time to put this bub argument to rest by winning a third championship.
Is this just a complete troll post? The griz will never compete for an FBS championship, and probably aren't moving up anytime remotely soon anyways.

No one said the firing caused the ncaa stuff.

Everything else you said is dead wrong. I know the situation. You don’t.

No one will agree with you that the program was hurt more the scholarship losses than the firing of Pflu.

I knew Delaney and Stitt fairly well at the time and talked to them frequently. You don’t and didn’t.

Explain why the President of SS didn’t allow Sears to bring Pflu with him.

Sad that mentioning D2 has become the new favorite troll post around here.
If FCS is eliminated, UM administration would likely move to Div2. Profits from the stadium would be the primary consideration. The UM fans don’t seem to be interested in improved competition which would probably be another consideration.

Why would FCS be eliminated? This is a stupid post!

1) And if the FBS is eliminated, then Alabama will move to the NFL. 2) You obviously don't read these boards much. There are people arguing for moving up all the time.

Ok, if it isn’t eliminated and remains a division, will you support a change to FBS? Also think about how this change would impact other UM sports such as basketball? Enrollment and image of the university by virtue of the company we keep?

You are an idiot and completely dead wrong. You obviously don’t talk to anyone who was involved with the program dealing with the aftermath of the Pflu brought upon sanctions. Not following Sears has already been covered the Weber offense averaged 15 points a game which is unacceptable in the Big Sky to everyone except you apparently. Pflu got to showcase his offense against Sac State in 2013 and lost 31-3 SS president and everyone with a brain, apparently not you, was not impressed. How exactly did firing Pflu set the program back?

““The Art of Offensive Futility: Weber State’s Masterclass in Going Nowhere”

If there’s such a thing as performance art in college football, Weber State’s offense put on an avant-garde masterpiece against Sacramento State. The Wildcats didn’t just stall out — they rewrote the manual on how not to move the football.

The opening 28 minutes looked like two teams trapped in a staring contest — but when Sac State finally blinked, it was to score a touchdown. Weber’s offense? Still sitting there wondering which end of the ball was supposed to move forward. Garrett Safron and DeAndre Carter hooked up for a 15-yard TD to make it 7–0, and that was basically all the Hornets needed.

But Weber wasn’t done embarrassing itself yet. After a “three-and-out” that would make even a Pop Warner coach blush, punter Tony Epperson rolled right, got caught mid-punt, and somehow kicked the ball short of the line of scrimmage. If you ever wanted to see a punt that turned into a gift-wrapped touchdown, this was it. One play later, Sac State was back in the end zone, and Weber’s defense looked like they were already in the locker room eating orange slices.

Halftime score: 14–0 Hornets, and the Wildcats had all the offensive spark of a damp matchstick.

The second half began just as inspiringly — with Sacramento State’s quarterback going a perfect 5-for-5 to start the drive and hitting a tight end for another touchdown. Weber finally responded midway through the third quarter… with a field goal. Freshman Carson Facrell trotted out and, bless his heart, nailed a 42-yarder. That was it. That was the highlight of the day. Weber fans finally got to clap for something other than a good punt snap.

Meanwhile, Sacramento State kept pouring it on, including a 51-yard bomb to Carter, who was probably wide open because half the defense was still trying to figure out who was supposed to cover him the first time. When the dust settled, it was 31–3, and the Hornets had piled up 288 passing yards to Weber’s 234 total — yes, total — yards of offense.

Let’s not forget: Sacramento State’s defense recovered four fumbles, had a guy with 16 tackles, another with 10 tackles and 4.5 TFLs, and probably could’ve borrowed Weber’s playbook midgame and still shut them down.

Weber’s Big Sky opener was supposed to be a new start. Instead, it looked like they left the keys to their offense in the pregame locker room. When your best play of the night is the other team recovering your fumbles, you know it’s going to be a long season.”

You are the only idiot who thinks this game was not reason enough for him to not continue to SS.

As I said, I know more about the firing of Pflu and O'Day than almost anyone on earth. I talked to each of them many times and still do. I talked to Pflu's lawyer. I talked to most people in the athletic department and know them. I knew Stitt before he came to UM (through a mutual friend), and have known Delaney for decades. I also know much of went on with and behind the actual firings and who talked to whom. Same with some of the asserted/rumored sexual stuff. I talked to both Johnson and Kemp. I know the law firm who represented them. Some of this was posted on egriz by me.

The presidents of FCS schools don't get involved in the hiring of assistant coaches, and, if they do, they are not looking at the football merits/things. They are looking at something else, like the reason Pflu was fired at UM (and the sexual stuff).

Again, saying the firing of Pflu was not a huge blow to UM, and far more than the loss of several scholarships for a few years, is the dumbest thing ever said on egriz. You are truly clueless. And now, everyone on egriz knows that.

I actually get what he is saying. I don't really agree entirely, but the point that the decline of the Minnesota Gophers football team opening the door for NDSU to recruit more talented kids is a pretty solid point.
I don't think he understands geography. Montana does not border Oregon or Washington. Why would those recruits choose Montana over Washington State, Oregon State, or Boise State?
