Is the UM vs EWU game a "rivalry game"

Nope. Have to have a stadium to be a rival so you can actually let some of the rival fans come to the game.

Montana's natural rivals are Idaho and MSU. There is history, trophies and they are comparable institutions. EWU not so much, a Johnny come lately.

EWU doesn't really have any natural rivals within the BSC. Every game has varying levels of meaning, but the ultimate goal of the program is to win another national championship. Who you have to play along the way to reach that goal is just part of the process.

The change in scheduling is a win for Montana given the fact that EWU has won 5 of the last 7 conference championships, reached the semi's 4 times in that span, and won 7 of the last 9 meetings in the series. I could be wrong, but coming right out of the gate I doubt Idaho is going to present the same challenge for Montana that EWU has the past several years.
