Is Gus the next Carson Wentz?

Maybe. If there is another guy named Carson Wentz that sells insurance in Missoula or something. If you are talking about the NFL quarterback, no. No he is not.

Every scout that was in Msla to scout Wentz last year saw that the best Qb that day was Brady. After the injury, he has long since been forgotten. He IS 6'7". That alone will garner him some attention. He needs to put up some noticeable stats this year and, oh yeah, improve his play, then yeah he'll get some attention, but nothing like the hype of Wentz, which I am still not convinced of (his #2 draft status). Not many of NDSU's individual players have produced in the NFL. Their all-time leading rusher, John Crockett, failed miserably.

Ya....not a single scout saw that. He threw the ball twice as much as Wentz. He should have put up more passing yards. He had several passes in that game which should have been picked off. He really benefited from a great receiving core and an inexperienced NDSU secondary. A lot of dangerous jump ball passes which in the NFL would be picked off nearly all the time. I call his game lucky and fortunate. The second game against NDSU is more in line with the type of QB Gustafson is. Poor decision making, can not go through progressions, not accurate and can not read a defense. Sorry, but he is nowhere near the QB Wentz is.

John Crockett is not NDSU's all time leading rusher. He was probably the best running back this preseason for the Packers but is on IR right now with a shoulder injury. Was an undrafted free agent that made their roster. How has he failed miserably? Most undrafted free agents do not make active rosters. Marcus Williams starts for the Jets and was 5th in the NFL last year with 6 picks. Not too shabby. Been some really good NFL players through the years from NDSU. Steve Nelson went to multiple pro bowls, was on the 1st team all pro team one year, and is in the Patriots ring of honor. Phil Hansen started in 3 Super Bowls for the Bills and is in their ring of honor. Tyrone Braxton went to pro bowl with the Broncos and won two super bowl rings.

Fully agree. Other than being tall and playing FCS football in adjacent States there is little similarity between Gus and Carson. Gus is too slow and fragile for the NFL. Perhaps they will give him a look in Canada.
