I suppose it all depends upon how you define it. By 1776 we were not just a collection of states with trade policies between them. We had declared independence from the king and had a confederation of sovereign states document written called the articles of confederation, that was the framework of the constitution. To an American patriot we were a nation. To a tory, a bootlicker or those opposing the no kings protesting we were still British crown until the last redcoat left in 1783. I see which side you fall on.

Ive always been a huge fan of conspiracies and cover ups but this might be one of the worst soapbox stances I've ever seen.

I fall on the side of facts. The Articles of Confederation created a "league of friendship" among the 13 sovereign states and each state retained its independence and sovereignty. It created a weak central/federal government that struggled to manage issues such as commerce and taxation. All 13 states had to ratify the Articles for them to take effect, which delayed their implementation until 1781. If each of the original 13 colonies are sovereign states and the ratification of the Articles didn't occur until 1781, how can a "nation" be created in 1776?

Fact. All those other dates sound dumb. Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like July 4, 1776. Did you squawk about the 175 anniversary 25 years ago?

I’ve been celebrating 250 years this entire weekend. You do you and celebrate 250 years 5 years from now or whatever.

If you really want it changed, squawk at the government to get it changed. 😜
