Influential Griz from Butte

I'm compiling information for a project I'm working on. The project will center around the influence and mark players/coaches from Butte have made on the history of Bobcat and Griz football. I have a list started, but I would like input from others. Please reply in the thread and help me come up with a comprehensive list. Todd Erickson, Colt Anderson, Tom Davis, George Dahlberg, Eso Naranche, Bob O'Billovich, Milt Popovich, off the top of my head.

GOAT of Butte football IMO is Milt Popovich who played halfback and punted for the NFL Chicago Cardinals for 5 years.

Steve Sullivan, Len Noyes and Jack McAuliffe also went to Butte HS, and played in the early days of the NFL

Kirk Timmer (MSU) and Tim Hauck were born in Butte, graduated high school elsewhere in Montana and played in the NFL.

Although Jiggs Dahlberg is mainly known as a basketball coach at UM, he also coached football in 1945 to a 1-4 record. He was born in Butte

Mick Dennehy and Mick Delaney are two recent head coaches at Montana that were born and raised in Butte

The Butte Knights of Columbus would be a great place to go. They have an extensive written/pictorial history of Butte sports hanging on the walls on the main floor & around the running track on the lower level. Well worth the visit. And they have a bar if your thirsty.

There is also a great wall in the Metals.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. I've spent a lot of time at the KC!
