In-state vs. Out-of-State... Who's Johnson is bigger???

I know the running back, heard about him, but have only seen him rush for about 80 yards in two games that I have attended. Don't have a clue who the skinny dude is in the top picture.

Was the question "Most overrated running back in big sky history is.....?" or "Can you find a picture of some dude that nobody knows....?"

You mean the guys that have 4,634 yards of offense, 40 TDs, and have beat you 2 out of 3 times? Yeah, those guys.

In the years they actually played against us:

Cody Kirk - 33 carries for 100 yards rushing total, 0 TDs
Tanner Bleskin - 5 catches for 44 yards receiving total, 0 TDs

Both are winners, both are from Montana, and both are guys who would easily play on your field should they have elected to go there. False. Tanner Bleskin played much of game in our victory over you guys in 2010 and caught the opening drive TD. 2 out of 3.

Part of the reason this state loves the Grizzlies is due to the amount of home grown boys who play for them. Out of staters/transplants will never get it, but the fact is native Montanans connect more with Montana kids playing for the Griz than kids from out of state. My favorite players every year are the Montana kids. I don't think I'm alone there. Both our NC teams were built heavily with Montana kids. Now I realize it's different now and to remain competitive at this level we have to recruit heavily out of state. I'm fine with that, as another poster said once they put on the uniform they are Griz and I'll be their biggest fan. But the players that are and have been my favs are the boys from Montana and i hope we always have room for a few on our MONTANA team! Go Griz, wherever your from!

From the end of the season until the national day of signing I picture Payton’s living room stripped of furniture except for a giant horseshoe shaped desk with 8 computer monitors. He spends countless hours monitoring media sites to keep us all up to date on recruiting news while gulping coffee and smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day. He doesn't do it alone either. His children are pulled out of school and kept on an optimal dosage of Adderall so they can monitor Scouts and Rival websites for 18 hour shifts. His wife runs in sandwiches when she isn’t monitoring prospective recruits facebook and twitter accounts. Cut the guy some slack.

It's fine to say that your favorite players are the Montana kids. Nothing wrong with that at all. And nothing inherently contradictory about it.

But some comments on this forum have suggested that being born within the imaginary border lines of Montana somehow endows a person with magical powers like integrity, character, intelligence and willingness to work hard, etc., which people born outside those imaginary lines somehow lack.

And as someone born inside those lines, I'm here to tell you that line of thinking is pure fairy dust material.

If the goal is to win football games, then you shouldn't care where the players come from. If Montana has great recruits, then sign them! If not, then bring in a player from outside the state. There shouldn't be some kind of "litmus" test favoring local kids. That is stupid. Do you think Alabama cares what state their players come from?
