In State Montana High School Recruits 2014

Look at Cook's film folks. For the past 2 years. Most of his passes were short, and his receivers turned them into long gains. He had a couple of great receivers. Last year he had an all state line.

I'm not saying he is a bad QB, or even not a very good QB. But if you watch the film, he has had a lot of short passes turn into very big yardage. Look at Weyer's film. I would take him in a heart beat.

Hope they both do very well. Let's check back in on this conversation in about 4 years.

Like I said, it is the system. I love it. Great passing concepts, easy to implement. Takes a great qb to make it go, not every kid can run the program and it shouldn't take away from what Cook has accomplished. Seems like it might be a dink and dump system, but actually the furthest from it. System teaches kids at qb to read defense, and Cook did that masterfully.

From a statistic level, I can see why people probably dismiss his accomplishments. Guaranteed, any qb less than Cooks ability and that offense next year becomes amazingly pedestrian.

Cook should get looks from the guy who created the system, Tony Franklin who is at Cal as the OC.

Well that definitely wouldn't work in our offense then

To be clear, i wasnt suggesting that it was a violation. My comment was more along the lines of a sarcastic jab directed at a poster who contacted the msu compliance office last year because a booster asked a recruits dad (who also happened to be a long time friend) where the kid was going.

Actually I believe that was a bobcat booster talking Gunnar Brekke out of his verbal commit to UM. Violation ? Probably. Sleezy ? Absolutely. Poor Kid...

You are misremembering the details. If you can provide a link that proves otherwise, I'll happily apologize.

You're talking about Tom Stuber running into Gunnar Brekke's dad, whom he has known all his life, at the gas station who told Tom that Gunnar was rethinking his commitment. Some time goes by and during one of their phone calls to each other, Tom learns that Gunnar will instead be going to MSU like his parents did.

Thinking Tom acted in violation after reading Tom's post on BN, Everettegriz aka Grizinwashington or dickheadinwashington called the MSU compliance office. MSU conducted an investigation and found no violations had occurred.

Lesson for all:
If you're going to be a tattle tale, at least know what the fck it is you are talking about and be able to quote the fcking rule of which has been broken. If ya don't know all the facts, is it necessary to stick your nose in it?

Amazing how fast Tom's post disappeared off egriz after he described the events preceding Gunnar's switch...

Re Cook: 1st team/ 2nd team- whatever. The kid has a big arm. Is accurate. Can run. Is Huge. He 'd be a great FCS QB but has to address two issues: academics and weight. IMO he needs to lose weight to improve mobility if he is playing QB. Obviously he would be a good TE prospect. He plays basketball and has the good hands. I heard that academics might be a factor. Maybe he goes JC and gets back on track? If he wants to work, he has a D1 future.

I happen to know that the Griz will be having a two time state class A champion at MLB, a two time first team all state selection and two time southwestern A Defensive MVP award winner in town for an official visit this weekend, O and by the way he has qualified for the national high school finals rodeo as well! And yes, it looks like the Griz are in the front for landing this amazing young man... Carson King 6' 3" 215 lb great kid from Beaverhead county high school.. You watch a few years down the road we will hold him up as one of the biggest steals as far as recruits go.. One of the coaches were quoted in saying Carson is the best linebackers he has ever coached... For anyone who knows about Dillons program that is saying something..
GO GRIZ!!

I either missed it or it never existed. It's still on BN, which is where I learned the details.

Everettegriz made the accusation here, but I don't think Tom ever responded here.

Good news. Was kind of wondering about him. How about the other kid, Scott? I heard a lot of good things about his potential as well.

BN is reporting King is visiting MSU this weekend.

I quick scanned over those posts, and I think the one you're talking about is just some guy guessing on who may be visiting. A later post said that a poster on eGriz said King was visiting Missoula this weekend.

So I mean...maybe he can teleport? That would make for a scary good football player.

Carson King was in Missoula this weekend and I expect him to commit to the Griz sometime soon. He plans to go on a mission for the LDS church and play following his return. As for the cats he does come from an AG family, however the Cats didn't give him the time of day. He has been torn between football or rodeo but I would say unless something crazy happens he will be playing football.
As for Troy Scott, the kid is a freak of nature.. He could play any sport he wants in college but football would be his only way at D1. Right now he is holding out hopes that a team will recruit him to play both basketball and football, which unfortunately means NAIA. He is a Griz fan and would more than likely to go to the Griz if he was going to play football. Both of these Dillon Boyz have had unreal high school career's and would be awesome to see play for the Griz.. Go Griz!!

Okay, I'm a Butte guy, so I'm undoubtedly biased, and Will Weyer looks like a good get for the Griz, but...

Dallas Cook set about 14 state records this season, in the process putting up video game numbers, even injecting himself into some conversations for national player of the year, and he can't even make first team Montana? Huh?!?

Yeah, I know, Weyer got the title, but look at what he had around him compared to Cook. It was basically Cook and one good and one great receiver and not a whole lot else vs. Weyer and his cast of thousands (and a great defense). You can't put Butte's failure to repeat on Cook--Butte's defense (or distinct lack thereof) did that while Cook gamely tried to keep the 'Dogs in every game by simply outscoring every opponent in outrageous boat races.

I know he's not in fashion here on eGriz (for something he didn't even do), but give the kid his due. The numbers he put up only come up once every forever (so far, at least).

Cook having the best QB season in MONTANA HISTORY and getting snubbed on post-season honors because his defense was the worst in the state is comical to put it politely.

Having said that, Weyer is a fantastic QB as well. No slight on him AT ALL. He's great.

I heard 15 Montana kids were down visiting this past weekend, all the top kids, I believe Weyer and Alex Thomas were in and some great players, most preffered walkons, any comits from that group?

I heard 15 Montana kids were at The U this past weekend. Weyer and Alex Thomas and 13 other kids, I think most partials and walk ons, a couple studs in that group. Anyone know who was down in that group and if any of the kids commit? Its so important to keep the top kids in state, some of our best players were walk ons.

There are a couple Montana kids that are on the Treasure State Super State Team that the Griz have shown interest in, Noah James from Glacier, big powerful running back, and Sean Foley a wide receiver and return kid with great ball skills and a jet engine. I think they are both way up on the Griz preferred walk on list. I think they both visited last weekend

I know there was two kids from bozo, a kid from whitefish, hardin, dillon, San diego, Reno, Bellvue, missoula, helena, great falls. Several of them said they were going to commit and most were walk ons. Things sound good to get most of those kids but you never know.
