Ifanse

Either way, you really have to question the commitment issues in Bozeman. People are wondering if VI has lost the locker room.

People understand the effect of the portal. Ifanse put 5 yrs into the program and did graduate from MSU. People know it is not a commitment issue and Vigen has no way lost the locker room. I know you would like that to be the case.

IDK, man. People are saying things. VI doesn't inspire, can't motivate, makes spaghetti with ketchup, etc.

That would be the classiest thing Bozeman State could do in light of all of its recent scandals. Coach Ron Ash would get that program back on track in a quick hurry.

I don't think so. When he was healthy this year he started. Had he came back next year he would have been the day one starter as well.

Easier to handle with what's behind him I'll admit.

really? I thought the other guy (can't remember his name) was much flashier/stronger than Ifanse this year. Ifanse didn't scare me like he did in years past.

No. Believe me, I wish I could sit here and post that Ifanse had regressed, got passed up, backups are better, but none of that is true. He was finally healthy, for pretty much the first time in four years. He was already the all time leading rusher for the Cats, and was the best Cat RB of all time. I can't even imagine all the additional records he would have shattered had he stayed at MSU for one more year.

That said, Cats are completely loaded at RB. Vigen puts a premium on being able to run the rock, see our OL and RB room. Next year there will be five RBs on the roster that would likely be able to start at most Big Sky schools.

Better yet, bring back Earle Solomonson.

I want to see these rooms, but nobody will confirm that they exist, let alone what kind of snacks are in them. Are we talking just goldfish and trail mix, or are there tacos catered? Microwave? Fountain drinks? PS5? Do the RBs and OL share one room and have to reserve blocks of time?

So what does that leave them with for RB’s? I think just Elliott and that White kid that got hurt like week 2 right? Cause I think Sumner graduated, that Williams kid never panned out. Is there somebody else I’m missing?

I think you have it correct but rest assured that they are LOADED in the RB Room. The festivities and camaraderie in that room won't skip a beat. I'd bet they're all in there right now eating chicharrones and playing FIFA23.

Just guessing on a depth chart here:

1. Lane Sumner
2. Elijah Elliott
3. Marquis Johnson (WR/RB hybrid)
4. Kaegun Williams (started this summer as #1 on the depth chart...sounds like he's trying to make a comeback from injury)
5. Jared White
6. Garrett Coon.

In other words, pretty much exactly how it looked this entire regular season. But better.

Williams (Vigen said he is a work in progress and wants to play. Will be in Spring camp.)
Elliot
Sumner (He is returning)
Marquis Johnson
White
Coon
and
Scottre Humphrey an incoming 3 star rated freshman from Ranier High School in Seattle.

This is closer to the correct order, and I would possibly even put Sumner ahead of Elliot... as he showed when healthy he can be flat out dominant.

Cats only run QB's now.

he got passed up in the depth chart this year. same thing that happened to Knight.

Oh come on, neither of those guys were passed on the depth chart. Knight was coming back from a major injury, and Ifanse was rehabbing as well.
Coming back from injuries can take some time, depending on the severity. It was pretty clear that Knight kept progressing and was looking better each game. Ifanse just held out completely until he felt ready and looked good when he returned. Both were the best overall talent on each team, when fully back.

Isaiah had 28 carries for 281 yards and 2 TDs in his 2022 return against only playoff caliber defenses. This is NOT the same situation as Knight, who came back fat and slow. Yes Ifanse would have been RB1 by a wide margin next year.

Welcome to the brave new world of college football. I'll be cheering for the kid. Hope he tears it up.

ANQCat. . .you are an idiot. Knight was not fat and slow. He was coming back from a very major surgery. Man, way to take a jerk off, and very uncalled for shot. What a troll.

What? I thought Sumner was out of eligibility. Does he still have his Covid year? And Coon. That’s the one I forgot. I knew there was someone. That’s a pretty crowded room. Do you think they all stick around?

Yes, Sumner has another year. With the portal who knows. It is hard with the portal for any team to build depth nowadays. It is only going to get worse between the portal and NIL.

While I have no inside information, I think a frustration of ifanse, as a cat fan, is that he was a one of one in the backfield and was run like a racehorse being whipped. Always straight up the middle with little offensive creativity. I think he is ready for less than 25 runs up the 1 gap and getting 5 guys over 300 landing him.

He didn't get passed up in the depth chart this year. He was rehabbing and only came back the last couple of games after Doctors cleared him. He only has one more year of eligibility. I think he graduated this year. Not sure on that. He is most likely going to a FBS program where he has a better chance of getting and NFL look. The running backs room is still full for the Cats, including an incoming freshman from the Seattle area that is highly rated.
He had 7 touches in the SDSU blowout.

Nope, not true. Tim hauck will be the defensive coordinator at MSU next year. He didn't want to work with his brother.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard that. As long as Bozeman State can get a head guy to reign in that out of control program, I’m sure they’ll be fine. As it sits, it doesn’t look good. Too many scandals and lack of institutional control.
