coach would be fired
yes
And for these reasons, Engstrom would never be president at any major institution.
We can only hope someone picks him up as a provost, which he is qualified for, but as a president/CEO of anything, he is grossly inadequate and will do nothing but embarrass himself and the institution-wherever that may be. Unfortunately at this time it is UM. If the guy had any self-respect he would look for a provost type position. The guy is a academic, but not too smart. Put pressure on the MSU guided board of regents if you want it changed.'68griz said:So does that mean we're stuck with him???ranco said:no

Here's what Engstrom did, in the public perception:
"I can keep going: Miami and Connecticut in 2011; Notre Dame and Montana (coach and athletic director may have been involved in the cover-up) in 2010 ... ".
"The cover up?" Well, that's how news "plays out" in the public mind when people like Engstrom do otherwise inexplicable things. People then make stuff up so that it makes sense. And the damage goes on.

You fire public people without a public explanation and the public will take it as an opportunity to fill in the blank with whatever allegation that suits their purpose and always the most salacious or destructive narrative will get the headlines. Maybe they were fired because they had the balls to stand up to a knee jerk reaction but no one will ever suggest that to the press and if they did no one would ever believe it anyway because dirt is what sells. RE screwed the U both through his over-reaction and his lack of explanation.biga75 said:UMGriz75 said:The "Rape Culture" critics are out in force.

True

JJ has done more than just win football games in my mind, he has shown everyone that he is a bigger man than the so-called President of my University. JJ is owed so much for the rush to judgment that overcame him and two men who knew truth sacrificed their careers for what was right. The so-called President is to blame for scar that was an innocent man, and I for one will never heal from it. I did heal some when I watched JJ walk off that field in Bozo victorious, free and vindicated. I am not sure I would have been so brave to have done all that he has done. The so-called President is too blame for our lack of enrollment and others contributed to the ordeal by their refusal to really listen to what happened to JJ. Sport is sport. Life is life. If anything, MD has brought a sense of perspective and humility.
The so-called President's choices would not depend on his location. He would be so over his head in Florida it is unimaginable.
He still has Pflu's team, so much success has to go to the guy whom brought in most of the players in. And also don't forget Pflu had already or was about to install many of the progressive programs to help turn the players into players, as well as good students and people contributing to the community. MD inherited a great situation except of course for the QB situation last year.PlayerRep said:It's ironic that the football team's success this season is helping bail out Engstrom from the messes he created--part of which almost wrecked the football team.
