MBBALL Idaho Game Thread

Happy for the win but not happy about our last offensive possession. Coming out of a timeout with a chance to win it with a bucket, we look confused, little movement, Malik Moore seemingly not aware of the shot clock, Pridgen out of his depth with a heave from three--giving Idaho not only a chance to tie but to win with a trey. You can't have that kind of a lackluster possession late in tight games--especially coming out of a timeout.

Also missed critical free throws down the stretch, including the front end of a one and one. Free throws are like vitamins, ya gotta have 'em but they have to go down the hatch.

This team can be as good as it wants to be. But it can't get arrogant. You can't play in spurts. Idaho's a sound team but Montana is the much more talented team. We should not have let them go on the run they did, from down 13 to up 9. We have to play complete games.

We do have a closer. Money can take over a game.
Remember, they only had 15 seconds on the shot clock coming out of the time out. Not a lot of time to be choosey about your shot selection.

Basketball is a game of runs

Certainly share your frustration City but these are easy things to clean up on film. Yes we should’ve handled them today but the silver lining is this team still found a way to win when we didn’t play well. That’s a welcome change from the last few years. Like I said, not a pretty win, but it was a resilient performance to come back and win this game. I think we’ll be fine moving forward.

Watching the last two games, it seems like this team is going to win with defensive intensity. In the Eastern game they forced a butt load of turnovers and finished with over 20 fast break points. With this game, really, they won it on defense and steals in the end. They have the scorers and the talent, but when they got that defensive intensity up toward the end of the game today, it created better offensive opportunities. Money keeps playing the way he's playing throughout the conference games, he'll be the MVP of the Big Sky.

“Closing out” with two narrow victories. This will bode well for the future. Unlike previous editions of Griz hoops they closed the door when they had too.
Next weekend doesn’t get any easier NCU and NAU coming to town.
Need to get students to the game and make some noise. Important we protect home court. Both NAU and NCU are playing good ball right now. 4-0 coming out of next weeks games puts us in the drivers seat.

I don’t think students are back next week

I haven't seen a Griz lineup this versatile or balanced (in minutes, scoring & stats) in several years. I see literally NO dropoff in potential 1-through-7. I'm still curious about Amari Jedkins (he was suited up), because, what I saw from him early made me think he could really solidify this into a full 8-man rotation with Jedkins providing rebounding & defensive depth in the low blocks.

This is what I noticed too. Last couple years Griz seemed to give up leads late. This season, they built the lead late against EWU and came back from down nine to Idaho, Closing out teams is huge

This is my favorite team in recent memory. Loved seeing 4 players on the court with Kai, Money, Malik, and Joe able to switch 1-4 & put pressure on the paint offensively.
