Jason Eck’s gotta be sick to himself now. If only he waited 4 days. Did not think Wazzu would open this year. This looks like Vigen’s to lose.
He almost quintupled his salary over the next 5 years. I think he'll do just fine.
Way more of them to be made at WSU. I read that Dickert’s contract is/was 13 million over five. Plus, Eck wouldn’t have to move.I guess he'll have to dry his tears with some of those Benjamins he just banked.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that WSU ain't hiring an FCS coach. They're still trying to recover from hiring EWU's coach several year's ago.

Still, 1.2ish mil/year is a pretty good consolation prize.
Plus, WSU might have gone with Vigen or somebody else anyway. NM is life-changing money that he knows is his.
They offered Matt Logie the job in Basketball last Spring.

And Riley is actually doing a pretty good job so far.
Riley's a good coach and a natural fit. I don't blame Logie for passing on the job. At the time, there wasn't a lot of clarity for where Wazzu was heading or what the future of the PAC12 was. Now there is and I think Wazzu now looks like a much more attractive job and place. My point was just simply if they considered Logie so heavily in Basketball, Then I believe Vigen will be heavily considered in Football.

Is that still the case? I thought Dickerts contract was negotiated before Wazzu was part of the Pac 2? Presumably they will be a little more conservative with money going forward, right?

I would assume at a minimum, it would be at least equal to what UNM gave Eck. Most the schools moving from the MWC to the PAC have a higher salary than UNM.
The Wazzu chat board seems to think they can pay around $1.8-2M. Eck is only getting $1.1M from UNM. Plus I would think Pullman is a little easier to recruit to than ABQ.

I guess my point was even if equal, and assumed it would be more, I rather be in Pullman than ABQ.

Wazzu definitely has more name recognition that's for sure, but they are both outpost jobs. Not the easiest places to travel to and not in a particularly good recruiting areas. NM is close to Texas though, and if you can leverage that, its a good start.
