And VERY unsuccessfully, as you can see above. And, I'm not a youngster, so I do remember those 'old days.'
Be realistic, '68. There was no commitment by Montana to football back then. It's different today, wouldn't you agree?
Yes, I completely agree with that particular statement.

It is nothing short of a miracle that UM even has a football team given that five presidents from Carl McFarland to Richard Bowers (1951 to 1981) did everything but outright kill the sport with benign indifference. Neil Bucklew gets major credit for promoting construction of the on-campus Wa-Griz with a big financial boost in the form of a $1 million in-kind donation from Denny Washington. Skipping to the present, the school now needs a similar leader with Bucklew'-like vision to move Griz athletics forward again.

It would be sad if Southern Utah is our toughest foe next year. Doesn't speak well at all of a sick conference known as the Big Sky.

Player....I wouldn't be so certain about Ft. Lewis and Western State given the past decisions of Fullerton. They are about the same caliber of schools as Northern Colorado and Southern Utah.

Really, I wasn't aware that Ft. Lewis or Western state had a couple of DII national championships like UNC has.

Based on some of the asinine arguments in this thread UNC was a prime candidate to move up to the FCS, that is if you are using the same rational as the move uppers are using for um to move up

I truly hope you're not serious. If you are, you're more lost than even I thought. No, they are not even close to Northern Colorado and So Utah. No Colo won multiple D-II championships, didn't they. So Utah beat a Mountain West team last year.

Looks like you're down on both the BSC and SUU. SUU is big on sports: It has 11 sports besides football. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Utah_University#Athletics" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; From what I've seen on their website, they're pretty big on football. They beat SacSt, Weber, & NAU last season. They beat UNLV, a shocker, but UNLV had a very inconsistent QB & why BH kept him in, I don't know. But, I digress. I think SUU will compete well in the BSC & could well challenge UM, MSU, EWU, & WSU. Of course, I said this re: UNC. But, I will say this, SUU is not UNC.

They didn't just beat UNLV... the EMBARRASSED them. 41-16 :o

This is a few years old, but gives some pretty good insight into both sides of the 1A issue at UI.

I think the administration probably exhausts all possible means to stay at the 1A level, but if the WAC/Sun-Belt merger doesn't happen, I wonder what they will do. I know a few UI boosters, a couple of which are family members, that would like to see Idaho back in the Big Sky. Should be interesting.

This U of I alum would love to see the Griz and UI in the same conference again. WHEREVER that may be. :thumb:

Grizzoola: I'm just weary seeing UM compete in a conference made up of community colleges like North Colorado and Southern Utah. UM deserves so much better.

So would this UM alum. Just would prefer it to not be today's BSC. Until then, the Little Brown Stein remains in the Adams Center.

Actually, if U of I were to drop down to the BSC again it immediately becomes a top flight conference...if that move meant we kicked UND to the curb and let them join the MFVC where they belong. :thumb: :thumb:

So we can stay at 13 teams? If you're going to kick UND, might as well also kick NCU, SUU, NAU, SAC, UCD, CPL, PSU. Then add USU, WYO, CSU, AF, NEV, UNLV join UI, UM, MSU, EWU, ISU and WSU.

We can all be happy in FCS together. :)

UI is the school that loves to spend other peoples money (i.e. the taxpayers of the fine state of Idaho) to appear to be something they really aren't - wait a tick....isn't that what Republicans do?

Fixed

Democrat = $1.3 TRILLION deficit.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

We should all refrain from the political BS since there is an actual forum for this on the site. I include myself in this.

Politcal affiliations have about zero to do with University spending. Republicans and Dems seem to all appreciate college ball lets leave it there.
