I miss Clifton

Did you watch the first drive and notice I said coaching was number one?
Did you read my post which stated that even if you thinking coaching is the biggest issue, Davis winning the LOS all game long was the main reason they lost. Also, you may be onto something, if the Davis defense just kept falling down so Griz receivers would be open, it might have been a banner day.

5 for 6 on the opening drive. Had nothing to do with receivers falling.

How many losses did he have as the starting QB?
The offense is performing better than last year, and there are stats to back that up. We are averaging more points per game this year, we have a better 3rd down percentage. I'm not trying to be condescending, but I don't believe you understand football well enough to know what other factors impact wins and losses.

The biggest issue was coaching. Second was the defense, and third was running the ball. Fife went straight down the field for a TD. We could have thrown the ball at will against them.
The biggest issue was McDowell not playing well and looking like he didn’t want to be there as game went on.

you mean like posters are suggesting fife and gilman looked vs davis? oh wait, they can't tell how players feel or interact with others from simply watching the game...

I thought about this a bit this morning, and a big difference is the Griz return game hasn't bailed them out like they did numerous times last season. You could argue that Jr had a bigger impact on the winning streak than Clif.
Against Furman and NDSU? Sure (although I'll still argue that Clif and the offense won both of those games in OT).

But in the games Clif started after NAU and before those 2, we're averaging more per punt return and about the same per kick return this season as we did then, and we had 0 special teams touchdowns before Junior's kickoff return against Furman (only one the whole season against Utah Tech, and that hardly carried that game).

My McDowell info came from a long time Big Sky offensive coach, not a random fan. That’s a big difference. I haven’t seen anyone criticize Gillman. Aren’t most people saying Fire should have played more against Davis?

So what you are saying is neither of those playoff games get to OT without the return TD. Seems pretty relevant.

You mean like the two ropes he threw in OT against Furman and NDSU that won the games?
Did the Griz play Furman and NDSU in Frisco? You have the wrong games. And, you missed some of the ropes he threw in practice last season too. Those didn't help at Frisco, tho.

If McDowell and the O play better, they both get to OT.

Are you taking the position that good returns and TD's are luck, not deserved, and not really part of the game? Not accusing you, but I laugh at fans who seem to say that good plays on defense and offense are luck. Like the Cats talking, about the strips and fumble returns against UNM. The first one there couldn't have been a better play by the D.

Your contention was that the winning streak was predicated on special teams returns, but we won 8 games in a row without a single return touchdown, averaged less per return than we are now, and had only 2 long returns in that time period.

There would have been no Frisco if he hadn't carried the team. BH's decision with him and O line changed the team's direction.
