Hauck is a good coach. He has the record for Big Sky Conference all-time wins. They went to the National Championship game last year. All of those are facts.

The reason there is so much pearl clutching about whether he should stay or go is based on the fact that the Holy Grail is another national championship. Nothing else matters until/if UM goes FBS. And he is 0-4 in the title game so many believe no matter how good a job he does, the Holy Grail is out of reach.

I would think this year, no. If next year is more of the same, then it very well could be. If 2025 is basically a repeat of ‘24, ‘22, ‘19, and ‘18 (especially ‘18, this place would be complete chaos), then the calls to oust him would be deafening. Buying out 1 contract year as opposed to two is much more doable.
