How is Eastern so good at football but so bad at everything else?

Hahahaha ok man....if Montana and MSU left the big sky the conference would collapse. It would be 5 years before it it dissolved and teams started looking for life rafts in other conferences....

You think any of these broadcasting companies like ROOT even look at the Big Sky without the Montana fan bases??? If you do your out of your mind.

EWU has been better than the Griz for the past few years on the field yes.....but theres much more to an athletic department than that.

The fact is without Montana and yes Montana State the Big Sky does not exist in 2017.

Yeah I don't think so. While the Big Sky wouldn't be looked at the same anymore it wouldn't collapse if UM and MSU left. It would still be an 11 team conference with a few healthy football programs. It wouldn't be the same conference but it would survive just the same.

Ya the healthy football programs would be jumping ship real fast...what do you have left without the montanas and any media coverage what so ever.....

It sure wasnt a couple hundred people in Utah screaming for better coverage of their conference...it was the Montana markets and their large alumnus population in the Pacific Northwest.

You can tell me if the Montana's left Weber, whos athletic program is one of the stronger ones in the conference isnt looking to bail to the Southland or MVFC.

There would be no where to bail to, the teams in the conference would have to stay or drop.

Let me ask you this, how did the Big Sky survive before Root came along? I don't remember dozens of tv networks clamoring over each other to show our games before Root came along.

Actually I can, If Montana and MSU left Weber would stay (unless and only unless they were also given a invite to move up. Not likely). Weber would then become one of the premier programs and an anchor of the conference. I don't see many Southern teams bailing their conference after App State and Georgia Southern left. It would be no different for the Big Sky.

Like I said, just like the Southern Conference it wouldn't be looked at the same way but it would (like the Southern Conference) Survive just the same.

I wont lie, I personally would miss the Griz and Bobcats if they left, they are two of three schools we have the most history with. And it would be a shame to see them go. But their departure would not end the Big Sky.

I think the biggest difference is the Geography, the Big Sky is the only FCS conference in the west. That helped the other conferences do just fine when App and GAS left.

When we talk about five years of dominance by EWU can we also remember that just two seasons ago the Griz hung 57 on them and won by 39. Eastern has never had a score like that against us. Not saying they are not a quality program just saying maybe we have our moments as well. PS: Vernon Adams is up here in Saskatchewan as a third string QB but used in a "wild cat" style package inside the 10 yard line.

If we were having this discussion before the additions of Poly, Davis, SUU, Idaho and UND I might agree with you, had Montana and MSU taken the old WAC invites, the Sky would have most likely invited the aforementioned schools to stay alive anyway minus Idaho but it might have taken longer to get the conference back on it's feet. I think UM and MSU leaving would have hurt more back then before the additions. But since those programs have gotten their "Big Sky' feet on the ground I don't think it would be as devastating if it happened now.

It's awfully cute that the ewoooers believe they are though, isn't it Sam?

The truth is, ewooo, like every program in the BSC, is deathly afraid of losing UM (and yes, msu as well) because it's the only thing that gives them relevancy.
Judging from the top 25 if FCS, it is EWU that keeps the BSC "relevant" and as for academics, UM is a shadow of its former self. I am hoping that the new president proves to be able to turn things around but it won't happen over night.

No argument there. EWU drew 10.9 k against Sac State. How many against UM last year? 10.9k. EWU would be just fine without UM.

Wow, another example of a myopic egrizzy that over values the UM.

Also. They didn't hire RE as president. The Missoulian and Gwen don't cover them incessantly. They don't have a Pat Williams on their case. They don't think athletes should be kicked off the team for a routine dui arrest. Their town and area with supporters isn't full of anti-football types.

What the hell is this? Who on our team has a DUI?

Holy hell, dude. I wish we had a thread for over-reacting. PR was simply making a point that UM has some haters...it's not really the reason you've had a few good teams recently. R-E-L-A-X.
