Haslam is batting 1.000 in my book. Hit the womens' softball coach hire out of the park. His baskeball hire was a half-court swish. The Champions Center is now a reality. I have full faith and confidence that his football hire will meet with eGriz posters' high standards.

I hope you're right. And I know there's a ton of faith in the guy. I don't have any negative feelings toward him. I do think there's a world of difference between finding a women's softball coach and a HC for hoops in a lower conference men's hoops program than finding a HC for football for THIS program at THIS particular time. I hope he proves all his vocal supporters right!

I agree, but in a substantially different way. In my mind, the other two positions are MUCH more difficult to recruit and hire talented coaches. The UM football job sells itself. If Kent can get the quality of coaches he landed for BB and a brand new women's softball program, he'll be juuuuust fine finding a football coach.

I would like to see the worries if we hired a guy who had a 71-100-1 record before coming to Montana. Maybe in the 1980's. Same can be said about hiring a high school coach to coach basketball.

Both Read and Selvig would not have a chance today.

No shit....how do you suppose the AD knew Read would be right for the program? Hell, Read himself wouldn't have survived his start here in today's trumped up expectations.

Almost three decades of sustained success makes the hiring options just a bit broader than they were back then. Not sure about Selvig.
