I'm not sure what the "wow factor" people are looking for means. Outside of Dave Dickinson. And what I believe Outlaw was referring to was PSU's hiring of Glanville. I suppose that was a "wow factor" and it didn't work out very well. Neither did UM's "wow factor" hiring in basketball when they tried Pat Kennedy.
Here's the GREAT IRONY in this decision from the majority of UM fans posting on this board. Over, and over, and over, the clamoring is for UM to stop "the good ole' boy" hiring, and or NOT hire within. And at the same time, many of those clamoring for that ALSO wish Pflu wouldn't have been fired. "FTR, I too wish Pflu would have not been wrongfully fired). The IRONY in that however is, Pflu was a HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEE part of the UM "good ole boy network". Pflu had major, major ties to UM that go WAY WAY BACK. Pflu was also HIRED FROM WITHIN THE STAFF when Bobby left. Same thing with Joe Joe. In all honesty, how many of you would welcome Joe Glenn back? He was aprt of the "good ole boy network" BEFORE he became Montana's head coach. His previous ties to UM made the Griz his dream job, and he spoke publicly about that even while he turned Northern Colorado into a DII powerhouse.
It just seems to me that many of you want to bitch about how current coaches are NOT like our coaches of the past, but at the same time, those coaches many of you/us revere so much, were as much a part of the UM "good ole boy network", if NOT more than Mick was, or anybody else that's currently on UM's staff.
