High school BB: Butte's Gilder in Intensive care

Hey folks, I just read where Butte High Star Gilder is in the intensive care at the Butte hospital after banging his head during the game last night. Every one should put him and his family in there thoughts. If anyone hears anything about how it is going let us know.

My nephew plays for Butte High and our daughter just called his mother about Tyler. Seems he has a skull fracture and bleeding from the side of his brain. They couldn't get ahold of the doctor the family wanted to see him so they are keeping him awake until the doctor gets there. Our prayer are out to him and his family. Hopefully he will be okay.

I am not sure who it was that fouled him. However I did hear that him and his parents went up to the hospital to visit Tyler. I wish the best of luck to Tyler in his recovery.

That is a very classy move by the kid and his parents. That shows good sportsmanship, and lets us know that sports are not the most important thing in this world. Pray for Tyler, and wish for his full recovery.

Last word was that Tyler won't need an operation but he as a skull fracture from the top of his head to the bottom. I believe his injury was the reason Butte lost the game. The young man is a force inside good scorer and rebounder.

Both Butte High coach Thatcher, and senior guard Kyle Burgman, said that the foul by the opposing player was not intentional. They both said the kid made an effort to duck out of the way of Gilder, and clipped him low, causing Gilder to hit the floor. As I stated before, the Swartz family went to visit Gilder that night in the hospital. Gilder has been sleeping for the most part, but does recognize people and is aware of what happened.

It was a hard foul, but it did not look intentional. Swartz didn't do anything wrong.

Latest on Gilder. He was released from the hospital today and is doing fine. There are even rumors circulating in Butte that he will sit on the bench in his jersey with his teammates during tonights consolation. If thats true, turn off the lights Kalispell is done!!!!
