Hauck and the Portal

Bobby has always been of the opinion that if a player chooses to transfer, today it’s the portal, that you have abandoned your team mates and the program and therefore you are gone and cannot return to the team. In light of all the movement with the portal and players testing the waters in the portal for a variety reasons would Bobby be more receptive to allowing a player to return to the team? Example being Racanelli, if he decided that he was not getting the offers he had hoped for would Hauck take him back?
Circumstances have certainly changed with NIL. Players now enter the portal for multiple reasons to many to mention here but basically to position themselves for the future. Some for an opportunity to play at the next level, others to payoff school debt or for family reasons.
My question to the board, knowing how Hauck can be bull headed, would he allow certain players to come back?

I don't think they should be allowed back, it interferes with the continuity of the team. They need to think long and hard before they take that step. There are many reasons that lead players to take that option. The institutions have spent money recruiting and training that player and the player just walks away but they want the institution to hold their locker ......sorry. I think your points are well taken. But some coaches may come back and offer a star player more NIL dollars to stay? Ultimately it’s about winning, regardless of the situation.

This type of thinking is what led to all the lawsuits. The old ways gave power to the top of the ncaa structure but the workers (players) were left with very few choices.

Views on portal things are evolving. Griz have had to get NIL to players considering the portal. The Hauck bullheaded comments are stupid. Not true. With schools blatantly contacting players not in the portal, I assume
Griz players are discussing that with the coaches.

He knows a ton about football. I don't think people could question that aspect, but kids today have passed him by. He is stuck in the early 2000s. It's baffling how out of touch he is with social media and promoting players.

So true might not be the greatest coach ever but he did just have us in the natty and there is a good chance we get another coach and they are terrible. Imagine how these babies would react if the Griz went 4-9 or something

I think it's understandable if you understand human nature, especially when it comes to sports fandom.

Think of Tom Landry, Bud Grant, and Marv Levy. All great coaches that were harshly criticized because they kept teasing fans with a trophy only to not get it done. Landry finally got it done in Super Bowl VI after several heartbreaking playoff losses, but he was getting a lot of heat from the Cowboy fanbase before that. Grant and Levy never could grab a trophy.

History will show Hauck as a great FCS coach but unless he leads a championship team there will be an asterisk for some Griz fans. Some people are victims of their own success.

Mr. Dill, I am a now former player after 5 years with the team. I told you in person your opinions should stay in the bars. You call people idiots and morons repeatedly. Your opinions are wrong, worthless, and out right lies. From what I have said here you know who I am and us as players we do not think much of you. I just had to get this said in my one and only post.
