Haslam in no hurry

I've always thought Tim would be a great head coach at Montana. He has all the experience, knowledge and credentials. He's also a "players guy" He's a lot like Delaney in that regard. He's tough, he's a motivator, but for whatever reason, the players just love him for it.

What I've always wondered is, would Tim acutually ever WANT that responsibility? Tim has always ENJOYED life outside of football to the fullest. I've always wondered if he would really want the 18-20 hour days, the recruiting travel, the administrative headaches that come with being a head coach. Basically everything that comes with the job outside of practice and game days. Not saying he couldn't do it. I think he could and would be successful. But would he truly WANT it, and WANT to give up the way he has become accustomed to living.
Good insight on TH, havgrizfan. When I saw the $44K salary post, I immediately thought that TH probably doesn't need it, only came to help his embattled brother, BH, make some kind of success at UNLV.

I have been following UNLV football more than most eGrizzers, I think. You may be aware that last year, BH got UNLV to a bowl game for the first time in over 10 years. This year, there were great expectations. Not so fast. Right now, UNLV's record is a tragic 2-9, with one win a 1 pointer over Northern CO.

Not looking good for BH and the buzzards are circling, once again. As to BH returning to UM, I don't think so. BH looked at the UM job as a stepping stone. As to TH coming, I don't think so, for reasons you stated. Of course, neither of us can read their minds.

I'm somewhat skeptical about the UNLV salaries.

Only somewhat?
Not me, that place is a crap hole compared to Washington.

Well, when the other coordinator and all position coaches were paid over double what the DC was paid (according to a database that tracks what was actually paid to a state employee in a calendar year, rather than the rate of pay), it makes me think that the $47k including benefits isn't quite accurate for Tim Hauck.

Did he not collect a check until the season started? Is the number just incorrect? I'm not sure, but I would seriously doubt he would sign a deal to make 27k base. He could work at Starbucks and make that.

Where was the Big Unit's name on the list? Interesting. I am actually encouraged by one major thing. Haslam is taking point and reaching out to people in the know. He has a ton of pressure on him and his choice will be scrutinized heavily. I am hopeful he is up to the task and a quality coach will be chosen. I wish the best for the current staff. What concerns me is Mick knew what he was doing and he would not leave his assistants dangling in the wind. Maybe that just means a certain percentage of them would be retained or that one of them would be the next HC? :( :(

Perhaps you missed the part in the Delaney interview where Delaney said the decisision was reached after consulting with RE and Haslam...........

What makes you think they would actually tell the truth in the article. Sounds good and feels warm. Must be true?

The only name on that list that I'd be interested in at all would be Baldwin, but I'm assuming his next move will be to an FBS school for big money.
I can think of only one EWU coach who left for FBS and it didn't go well. That might not be a sure path for Baldwin.

As long as he doesn't go to wazzu he may be ok.

Won't be going there with Leach currently entrenched..... :D

I thought he was a pitcher for the Expos, Mariners and Diamondbacks?

As I recall it was the "Large Human" moniker that Kramer had...I assume the reference he was making... :D

Exactly. Thank you. I am pleased that others could get entertainment out of it though. That is mainly why I visit the site. :thumb:

I guess I was a bit surprised a DC at UNLV made so little but in all honesty I have never really followed salaries.
Wow, the differences in position coaches salaries from Washington to UNLV is incredible.

Largely due to the MASSIVE Cable TV contract (PAC--12 Network) in place in the Pac-12......

What make you think it was a warm an fuzzy discussion, as much as a Nows the time and nows the time to announce at 7:00in the evening after the team meeting......
