Has Weber State been overlooked lately?

If two more years of mission work makes you a better player in terms of maturity then how do you explain that BYU is the #1 cheap shot school.

It's only human to engage in some sort of vices...

Yeah. That's more of a program culture thing. I remember one GU basketball game where Kaufusi The Elder landed more punches away from the ball than some boxers.

Since so many of y'all have factually determined that taking two years off is an added advantage you should run this up to Hauck and Co. I'm sure he's always looking for ways to get an edge. I'm sure they'd be open to it. Maybe they can counsel their players to go away for a couple years and come back when they're "more mature".

I wasn't going to bring it up, but I definitely had JW in mind in this discussion. I don't know how much cover 2 he was practicing for those two years, but the Griz definitely had an advantage when he came back.

Im not sure if I should take this post seriously, anybody who follows Big Sky Football should have already noticed this.

Weber has won back to back BSC championships, won 24 of their last 26 conference games including 11 straight. They also have a 7-1 record against the traditional power schools in this conference. (MSU 3-0, UM 2-0, EWU 2-1) since 2015. And that loss @ Eastern was by one point.

I will say that despite all that success, Weber continues to not receive much respect by a lot of people including some of thier own fans.

I agree with the thread title, i.e. that yes it has been overlooked. I didn't know the extent of its recent success. Especially it's great conference success. The unbalanced schedule probably contributes to UM fans like me not knowing what they have accomplished, as UM doesn't seem them much, or get beat by them much.

Thanks for the thread topic, and posts like the one from Catfan.

Now that I think about it, that old trick of Choaches’s—to cover up a bad loss where he just gets an organ removed—is a page taken right out of ole Straight Arrow Gennero’s play book:

They head into the game as huge underdogs, and without Gennero, who is hospitalized just before the game for a potential heart attack, leaving Coach Rig in charge. After a horrible first half, they rally in the second half to cut the deficit to one, and Gennero returns to the sideline, having only suffered from indigestion, though he lets Coach Rig call the final play.

I know how to even up the 2-yr advantage Mormon missionary players have. Make every HS graduate serve 2 yrs of public or military service. 8-)

I say put those snowflakes in jail for two years. That's where most of them belong anyway.

The thing is, they had Straight Arrow Gennero, who was the winningest coach in program history, and fired him in favor of a dumber version of Manu Manu the Slender.

And, all the 20 year olds who leave after their true junior years for the NFL, one-and-dones in hoops, and 18 year old HS grads in MLB pipelines....

It's ridiculous that the NFL has a mandate that draftees must be three years removed from HS. They're all men at that point, like SWeberCat02 pointed out. Two years of maturation makes no difference.

You are correct. Good thing the NHL has no such restriction...just gotta be 18. So young, yet so brutish.

Yeah, it's interesting how different sports have different restrictions. I wonder why football is so different from the others.

Only if we make it retroactive for old guys.

Not only should every single player redshirt, without exception, they should also not enroll in school or play football for at least two years. Think of how good we would be!

I know. An incredibly violent sport like hockey requiring a mix of size and speed only requires one to be 18. NFL requirements are designed by the player's union to protect current players...don't need those young bucks taking jobs.

Believe it or not, the most dangerous "sport" is horse back riding. I saw a 6 year old riding the other day...ridiculous. You'd think there would be some governance there.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. :thumb:

NHL barely qualifies as a professional sport. Neutered officials watching a bunch of thugs ( they have to put litteral STOP signs on their practice jerseys so nobody tries to paralize them from behind) play 30 second shifts so they can end 1-1 and have a penalty shoot out. Incidently it's 1-1 because the goalies can wear anything they like for "padding", so it's shooting pucks on two pieces of plywood. And each team must have "enforcers" because the refs can't control the game so these muppets have to make sure nobody takes liberties with their players. And they can't disclose injuries, it's either upper or lower body because the players are so classless that they will intentionally try to hurt an opponent if they know where he has been injured. The sooner the NHL packs it in the better.

That's some weapons grade derp, sparky.

Thanks? No idea what Derp is, but then I've never been to Austin and don't care much for sirracha, so it might be a millenial thing.
