Harsh reality on roster changes

One thing I take out of this is Stitt has a plan and is going to do whatever he thinks is needed to get there, and isn't afraid to ruffle feathers along the way...I take that as a good sign.
Actually, the "feathers" belong to the taxpayers, donors, and boosters of Montana. They are not Stitt's to ruffle.

That's all that's known, per what has been confirmed by reporters.
And which Stitt refused to confirm when asked.
Yeah, so what. Your sense of entitlement is impressive.
I didn't ask the question, but the answer was clear to the entire State.

That he currently had no comment. And it is nice to know that you know what the entire state is thinking. Seems your ego is as big as your sense of entitlement.

Changing up my tone here a bit as the resident sugarcoater.

I've been reflecting on the rumors of impending roster changes. While no names were mentioned in Stitt's end of season press conference yesterday it seems that at the very least there's a few upcoming changes - if not more to be seen later. And while I'm going to bet that there's chances for redemption in the winter and spring workouts and camp - this coaching staff is recognizing something with the current Grizzly roster. It's not good enough for deep playoff runs. And in the broader picture we're seeing that most Big Sky rosters aren't equipped for that either.

This last weekend we met the current pinnacle of championship rosters and were dominated. Yes we caught this same team on it's heels in week 1 - but this time, when the matchup carried more weight, NDSU rolled. They're the benchmark. Other teams as well have shown regular playoff success of late, teams like UNI, SHSU, and Illinois State. I'd argue recently Coastal Carolina as well, although they got bounced in week 1 this year.

These are the types of rosters to aspire to for more playoff success than we've seen in the last 3 years. And my hope is that some upcoming changes, the new recruits, and a full off-season with this staff is going to focus on that.

One could probably argue the current roster is built for what it's done. A regular season mixed with some good wins, some frustrating losses, generally lower performance on the road, limited depth, and quick exits from the playoffs.

Stitt and company presumably see this too and are making plans to improve this team. It's going to be messy, it's going to piss some people off, but in the end Griz fans may really like the result.

Go Griz!
Can you put this is some sort of multi-colored chart to help me understand it?

I wouldn't mention "ego" in the context of that press conference, but, you're just you aren't you?

I am still waiting to find out whom 75 thinks should have been the starting QB for the Griz this past season......I am not holding my breath that he actually answers though.....

And I am still waiting for box to explain his reasoning, after I got done dismantling it. I do wish you would hold your breath.

We are just going to agree to disagree on the Griz overall talent level. Outside of the first NDSU game, the Griz OL struggled against good defensive teams.

No, I think the talent level on this team needs to improve.... In a major way.

But with Stitt's game plan, they had zero chance of winning in Fargo. If it was a talent issue, NDSU would have rolled UM in August.

Another way of looking at the 2 NDSU games (a way more congruent with reality, I believe) is that most coaches would have gotten their fanny kicked twice by NDSU. Stitt is better than most coaches. Give NDSU credit for adjusting and using the homefield to their advantage, but I have faith that the "mad scientist" will have some surprises for them next time.

I'm really curious to see if he can adapt the uptempo offense to super-loud, dome environments - it was almost painful watching Brady go back and forth and see everyone straining to get the play.

I have multiple times.....so who you going with....

I might also add that I am tired of trying to justify my choice over and over again....you either ignore to read them or just don't understand them.....no need for me keep trying....but in my opinion, Brady was the better option...

You need to step outside Missoula. Not everyone is going to be a Joe Glenn, Pflugrad, or Delaney and charm the media.

Most coaches have a tense but respectful relationship with the media. Some of the best coaches are down right dicks to the media (eg: Popovich, Belichick, Saban, Harbaugh, etc...). I think Stitt falls into the former, which is just fine. I would rather have a coach obsessed with winning than one that is working hard to make sure he addresses the media and sensitive fans delicately.

Stitt does not owe the media/public any more explanation on the roster that what he has stated. No fan or booster should feel like they are entitled to that information. He also has a right to be angry about what happened. Though, he should be directing more of his frustration to the person who leaked that (mis)information, whoever that was.

This statement is a fail.....Stitt is the head coach in charge of the roster....if he wants to make changes, he should be able to make them....and he doesn't have to answer to you.....

Only a matter of time before someone pulled the "Stitt doesn't owe anybody anything" card.

What feathers were you referring to if it wasn't cutting players?

The difference is, one is right and one is wrong. Stitt owes no fan or booster anything. Meanwhile, tax payers aren't entitled to anything as it relates to UM football. How do you even kno your state witheld is even funneled to the football team anyway? How do you know your state witheld doesn't end up in MSU'S athletic budget? Answer. You don't!
