All these comments about Breske coming here surprise me. He is currently the DC at Idaho. His contract as of two years ago paid 130,000. Sorry, but we don’t pay that well for assistants. His pay is closer to our head coach pay. I highly doubt Breske would leave Idaho for a pay cut.
But not out of the question. Those "hybrid" salaries at UI are bound to draw a lot of attention. Doubt very much that any of them will hold up for long. For one thing, the folks at ISU are going to bitch like Hell about UI getting near-FBS salaries. I cannot imagine the state bumping ISU to match ... so the others have got to come down. He might decide to move before that happens.

Yeah they won’t continue to pay that for assistants.

I think Hauck would have won at least one more chipper if he had the fast linebacker play Breske believes in. I still have nightmares of Villanova outrunning Fisher and Lebsock to the edges.

Ya but Matty Szczur was something special. A true one man show that day.

I expect Germer, Green ,Schillenger and Ferriter will be retained... My hope is Tim Hauck will come home as Defensive Coordinator!!! Pardon the spelling... :) :) Go Griz!!

Love to see Selle as QB coach with Pease as OC. Bobby and Brent were college roommates.

Wouldn't be suprised in the least bit if Pease is the OC. I read or heard somewhere that Pease really wanted to come back to UM and would be willing to be OC if he didn't get the HC job.
You heard right.

Seems like Pease was such a bright star until his last 3 gigs at Florida, Washington, and UTEP. Any ideas what happened at Florida and UTEP? Probably some old threads I could dig up...

Also, Breske had two stints in Montana with Glenn and with Pflu, but he has no real connection to Hauck.

I agree, won't be Breske. Tim I don't see coming either. So in other words I have no clue who it might be other than maybe some SDSU guy that Bobby knows can "coordinate" and not just coach

Lacked complete imagination. Not creative. Worse than a phen offense. Also, when Peterson hired him at Udub for WR coach he fired him a year later. At UTEP he was fired part way through the year. I think that’s telling he’s a big no for me as OC. I’ll be disappointed if it’s him. I know he’s a alum but I don’t like his trajectory.

You realize who was calling plays in 95 when Griz won it? Also, any coach that has the choice to be Sabans OC at Alabama or Muschamps OC ar FL...doesn’t have “imagination”? Yes, he made the wrong (just think where he would be now if it was flipped) choice in that situation, and not sure what has happened in last two gigs exactly...but for what we pay here for OC...we won’t find much better. Yes, his personality can be his biggest crutch, but to say he has no “imagination” - he has been one of the sharpest offensive minds ever on staff here....great player here as well.

I am thinking there is someone on the SDSU staff that Bobby is going to try and bring with him.
Could explain the "after the new year" comment; after a bowl game.....
Here are the defensive assistants at SDSU: (Short list; the DC handles Safeties)

Arnett, Zach
Assistant Coach
(linebackers)
[email protected]
594-6769
Lawson, Ernie
Assistant Coach
(defensive line)
[email protected]
594-6769
White, Tony
Assistant Coach
(cornerbacks / recruiting coordinator)
[email protected]
594-6769

White is the most senior of the three: http://www.goaztecs.com/sports/m-footbl/bio-White-Tony.html

As usual Kem, you are right on for DC out of this group....OC will be a previous OC here as well.

Well I’ve watched the recent offenses of his and the proof is in the pudding. He did not do well. He got fired. He wasn’t OC and call plays in 95 FYI. He did call plays in 96 which granted was a prolific offense but it was a well oil machine by then and was 21 years ago. The game has changed a lot.

Never said he was OC. If you were in program at that time, you knew who was calling plays. No need to address anymore as it doesn’t sound he got it...
