Wait! One More! The grandaddy: You said GU basketball was just as irrelevant to the board as GU academic policy. That was proved wrong by a quick read of the board description. Which, in turn, started this thread. I'm still waiting on that one, too.

To believe the contrary, or to act in practice as if it were necessary to choose between being a university or being of the Society, would be to fall into a regrettable reductionism.

Yeah, my statement was pretty specific: My knowledge of whether or not non-Jesuit institutions practiced the questioned tradition had no bearing on the outcome of the argument.
