Griz WBB 2024: Ready for Prime Time?

It's been awhile... about 10-+ years since the Montana WBB has put itself into the position to finish in the Big Sky top-4 standings, much less make a run for the title.
With 3 important games remaining, they can do exactly that.

It WILL be tough. But I believe this team has what it takes. The mental challenge will be the hardest.
Win 2: very cool. Win 3: awesome. Go Griz WBB.

Me too. Love watching them throw up the 3’s. Fun to watch.

Exciting Game that the Lady Griz should have won if they didn't turn the ball over 18 times. Eastern and lady Griz are 2 of the top 4 teams in freethrow shooting, but both shot terrible. Both teams were very tight, but EWU got the clutch shot at the end. Gfeller had an open shot to win it, but I think she leaned into the shot to much and missed it.

EWU turned the ball over only 8 times. That 10 turnover difference won the game for EWU. 18 points off turnover for EWU to Lady Griz's 5 points off turnover. Lady Griz couldn't overcome that.

Lady Griz are 3rd seed. NAU now has a 2 game lead on Lady Griz with 2 games left and a tie breaker because NAU beat EWU.

Just seems like the LG will never correct the turnover issue!

Turnovers did us in, but we played much improved defense overall. We matched their physicality and stayed focused for the whole game. Points in the paint were even. That is growth for us. We are a very good team and the tourney is wide open. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sac St suprise one or more teams. Lets get the win on senior night and #20 for the season then make some noise in the tourney.

Just back from the game. I thought it was a good game, with a standoff on defense by both teams. But, as noted by everyone on this thread... turnovers.
I had a good look at Carmen's last-second shot: on line, soft, just a touch long. She was crushed afterward.
The Bobcats helped the Griz, losing at home to Idaho. So, the Griz have a solid shot at 3rd place, but I personally think they need a win over Idaho State as well, to keep momentum going into the tourney.

Bartsch with a couple of really rough plays late. Missed a wide open layup and had two awful passes.

No doubt, but she kept mixing it up when she probably was in a lot of pain. She’s tough and I’m glad she was out there.

Montana State has a tie breaker over Lady Griz if they do tie. Lady Griz win one more game locks up 3rd. As for momentum, They need to win both games.

Brutal 18 turnovers was the difference. Rough way to end it. Ladies were cooking until 3 min to go and then opted to slow the game down and fell out of rhythm (it seemed).

18 turnovers plus 6 for 13 from the line. Dani missed significant minutes (twice) after getting hit in the face and couldn't play at her usual intensity.

Yeah, that freethrow shooting had me fuming all the home from the game, but then realized, EWU shot 6 of 12 and it was basically a wash. 18 points off of turnovers (11 steals which EWU leads the league in) vs 5 points off turnovers for the Lady Griz (3 steals which the Lady Griz are at the bottom of the league in), is the difference.

Hard for me to admit (since I've never liked EWU... in anything) but I have high respect for Eagles women's coach Joddie Gleason. I think the Eagles and Griz are pretty even regarding talent, but Gleason is exceptional at making in-game adjustments... from beginning to end. Particularly on defense, which is where EWU stands above all but perhaps the Bobcats in the Big Sky. Minor fourth quarter defensive adjustments (double teaming Carmen hard on the low post lob, trapping Mack Konig on the sideline to stop her drive, overplaying Gina on her drive to the key) tilted the game over the final 3-4 minutes. Five straight times down the floor (one a strange traveling call on Gina) Eastern got turnovers on key defensive adustments. I'm hoping the GrizWBB get another chance at the Eagles. The final weekend and the tourney could be a tilta-a-whirl. Go GrizWBB.

Do you think EWU would finish 2nd or maybe 3rd in the Frontier Conference?
