Griz vs. weber game thread.

It wasnt too long ago, that Weber was actually averaging 10,000+ in the DEC, but a few really poor years under the Cravens admin,(including Weber not making the conf tourney for only the second time ever) has put some of the fans in a suspect kind of mood. Randy Rahe is bringing Weber state basketball back into the picture now and its only a matter of time till the fanbases begin to fill up the DEE again, every team in the nation has "fairweather fans", including Montana and Weber State, but if both teams start winning agian, and start winning consistantly, the crowds will come back for both schools.

I dont agree however that Weber has had a "easy Schedule" Weber has played Utah State twice, who is currently in first in the WAC, and has beaten usual WAC power Nevada twice now this season, Weber was invited to USU's milk the cow classic and Weber had to play 3 games in 3 days, including a game vs Morehead State who with the same players they have now, won the Ohio Valley Conference and went to the Big Dance last season. Weber aslo played at UCSB who is only a half a game out of first in the Big West. Weber also beat the University of Utah, who is a usual Mtn West Power, lost at BYU who is ranked #17 in the nation, lost at UNLV by 9 who is also nationaly ranked at 23. No one on Montana's schedule is Nationaly ranked, not even Washington, and also Montana had 7 ooc home games with 5 road games, and Weber had 5 home games to go with thier 7 road games, so I dont believe a Montana fan has the right to call Weber's schedule "easy".

Having said that, since Weber and Montana are a basketball rivalry. I always want the the Wildcats and the Grizzlies to be in the Big SKy championship game, and although Weber is in the Drivers seat with 3 of thier last 5 at home, Im not going to say Weber will host the tourney, still way too much basketball to play, still anybodies game.

Great 1st half, a few too many turnovers. Selvig is the one of the best passing forwards I have ever seen. In the 1st half alone, 3 passes made me say "WOW". His court sense is something that just cannot be coached. His scoring is becoming more consistent now. He and Cherry are blossoming and will be BSC superstars, if healthy, next year.

Cherry has an NBA skillset, with the exception of his FT shooting. Selvig has NBA instincts, but limited athletically. The GRIZ are playing well so far against WSU, man do I ever enjoy watching Cherry and Selvig maturing every game.

I knew I said it his freshman year, and ironic enough, we were playing Weber State. This was the 1st time I mentioned Cherry having a NBA skillset. :thumb:

Too bad Selvig has not progressed since. Then again, he has been injured. He does have the instincts though.
