Griz vs SUU x2

Tinks:

Never easy. Lots of frustration. Think we were mentally fatigued.

We've taken it on the chin all season and hung in there and we did that tonight.

With 8 secs, we tried to deny the ball and trap. Kid got a little excited and dragged teh pivot foot.

The trey to get to OT was huge. KJ drove and Gregory let it fly. He'd passed up some good looks but glad he took that one!

Really happy and proud of Hutch.

Instrumental to get out early in the OT. We got some free basketball and finally played D like we can.

First Griz team to win 89 games over 4 years. Tribute to the kids in our program. Toughness, character, high character student athletes just like the other programs at UM.

Playing OT at Davidson helped. We got free BB, now let's go make it happen. We tried a few things different in timeouts. Guys looked at us a little strange, but they got it done.

We need to spend a few days resting. We are beat up and fatigued. But we know our home fans will give us the push to get us over the top.

Biggest surprise news from this game, Ward is out for the year, and Cherry might be back soon. I guess Ward's injury is worse than thought, and maybe surgery. Cherry's injury not as bad as thought. How strange is that? Getting either guy back helps. We need Cherry's attitude, leadership, and defense!!!
Is that for sure? or did you just hear their announcers say that? I heard them say that but i also didnt know we were MSU, wore purple uniforms and Matty Ward was 6'11! I didnt take much of what they said after the point early in the game they seemed shocked that SUU had a bunch of fouls and talked moreabout the "foul count" than the actual score

Classy. Not hard to figure who he's really talking about... :thumb:

What fantastic free throw shooting in that game. Unbelievable. That's a skill that can really keep you close in NCAA games.

Moved our percentage up to 77.1% and that moves us from 9th in the nation to 4th. :thumb:

Granted they did get a few things wrong. Man, do I ever wish Ward were 6'11". As for Cherry, they did show a few times during time outs, he was standing without pain, and it looked like he was not in a boot. I take that as a good sign. As for Ward, we better wait to see how it plays out. Hard to imagine announcers from another school say that if they had not heard it from someone reliable. You never know with nagging foot injuries, one way or the other. Could he be getting surgery? One would think after 2 weeks a nagging foot injury would not still be nagging to the point of keeping him out still.

We shall find out.

Talked to him a bit in Bozeman. He was indeed out of the boot an I wathed him take jump shots in warm ups. Good sign! He made a huge improvement between talking to him Thursday and Saturday.

i am honestly impressed. 2-0 with cherry out, 3-0 or 4-0 with ward out?? u guys definitely deserve to host this thing winning out without 2 of your starters. yikes.

but it sure would be cool of you guys to pay us back for our fumble on the last play of the game in 2008 when we finished 7-1 instead of 8-0 so yall could be cochamps!

Oh man! After the Griz won the day, most of us in WaGriz hung around and were watching the end of that game on the big screen. Trevyn Smith was just chewing up yardage on every play, heading in for the inevitable TD and then somehow coughed it up at like the 15 yard line and Ewoo hung on. That was a good day! 8-)

And thanks for the props, WWC. It's going to be a battle with you guys in the title game.

That was one of the coolest experiences ever. The whole team just standing with fans watching then high giving and hugging us all at the end. Mariani was like that too after the app state game hugging everyone. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

wow, wow and wow! back half of a tough two game road trip, after an emotional game at montana state. college basketball on the road...never easy no matter where you're playing. no senior leadership--eight underclassmen. jamar and coleman come up big, gregory is clutch. without cherry, i didn't think we could sweep this road trip. i couldn't be more impressed with the character of this team.
They have heart, no doubt. And, I think they expect to win...but, this schedule is brutal for young college kids...UM should say no to trips across country for not much up side...the griz will have played four games in a week with three on the road. I think..ihe conference needs to revisit its scheduling...I think the Griz looked ragged because they are tired. Not sure what SUU's problems are...

i do love the griz said:

So Will suits up just in case we struggle. Best case is saving him to get healthier for the tournament. If, we need him to play to host it, then that is an easy decision. :thumb:

I turned on the radio with SUU up three and with the ball towards the end of regulation, so as far as I'm concerned, the Griz played lights out!
